"Dundrearies at the Horseshoe"

Bio

Brought together by necessity and chance, Dundrearies hit the stage running and havent looked back. Drawing from a range of indie (Built to Spill), garage (Stooges), and pop (R.E.M.) influences, this Chicago-based band place a premium on song craft and dynamics to create catchy, smart tunes.

Doran (drums) and Mike (bass) compose a rhythm section that can lock in or swing, depending on what the songs requires. Guitarists Jeremy and Nick resemble fraternal twins: each knows instinctively what the other is doing yet is eager to establish his own identity within the song. Instant hooks are balanced by counter melodies that emerge and reward the attentive listener. All of this gives Chris (vocalist/lyricist) diverse territory in which to chase his muse, whether it be the poetry of Kenneth Rexroth or the poltical commentary of Arundhati Roy. What results live are contradictions of manic energy and subdued grace, midwestern honesty and bring-it-on swagger.

In early 2006, Dundrearies recorded the Get Wise! EP, mastered by Dan Stout at Collosal (released by dundrearies). The band recorded follow-up EP, Valentines & Sedition, at Electrical Audio, and is preparing for a Spring release.
