The Duo Clavis is:
Marcello Casagrande (vibraphone/marimba) from Londrina-Brazil; completed his masters studies
in percussion performance at the
University of Missouri-Columbia
(USA) and graduated
in music education at the State
University of Londrina (UEL). Timpanist -
head of the percussion section from OSUEL-Symphony
Orchestra of the State University of
Londrina since 1990.
Mateus Gonsales
(piano) from Londrina-Brazil; graduated in Popular Brazilian Music and Jazz at the Conservatory of
Tatuí (SP), and also is currently
the pianist of Londrina
BigBand, and others bands and combos.
The musicians have teamed up to develop a repertoire of chamber music facing this peculiar
formation based on composition of important brazilian
composers. Creating own musical arrangements and always seeking to emphasize the richness of textures and sounds offered by this instrumental combination.
The Duo Clavis
has as one of its features the use of improvisation (Jazz) as a creative element essential
for structuring their repertoire. The richness of the repertoire deliveries to the
audiences the contact with the Instrumental Brazilian Music and some of the
representative national and international composers.
In 2014 the duo was invited to perform at the VI Encontro Latino-Americano de Percussão At the Federal University
of Uberlândia (UFU-MG), and also featured a concert-masterclass at the School
of music from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ-RJ). In January 2016 the Duo performed a concert at
the Encontro de Vibrafones (Brazilian
Vibraphone Meeting) at the Central das Artes in São Paulo-SP. In 2016 the Duo performed at the 14o.
Festival Internacional de Percusiòn Patagonia in General Roca, Argentina; and
at 2016 Johnny Pacheco Latin Music and Jazz festival in Lehman College-New York
City (USA); and at the KoSA 2016 Percussion Day in New York (USA).
