Duo Beija-Flor

Marie-Noëlle Choquette has played flute since her childhood, studing recorder and baroque music for ten years and continuing her education in classical flute at the Montreal Music Academy. In 2004 she completed her Bachelor degree in classical flute performance at University of Montreal under the supervision of Francine Voyer. During this time she performed and participated in a many master classes and private lessons with many well known flutists (Claire Guimont, Denis Bluteau, Lise Daoust, Guy Vanasse). In 2007 she completed a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Music Performance Studies specialized in contemporary music under the guidance of Guy Pelletier at Concordia University. In 2009 she participated in a contemporary music workshop at the University of Graz in Austria under the supervision of Eva Furrer. Always looking to expand her knowledge, she also studied jazz with François Richard and has learned by experience improvisation in world and contemporary music. Marie-Noëlle is also regularly working with dancers, contemporary and pop musicians and videographers.

After studying electric guitar and percussion during high school, Charles Hobson chose to specialize in classical guitar at Indiana University. While there he had the great opportunity to study under the supervision of Ramsué Lopez, Daniel Bolshoy, Maestro Ernesto Bitetti and Italian guitarist/composer, Nuccio D’Angelo. Finishing with a Bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance he was invited to continue his studies by Daniel Bolshoy at Concordia University, where he completed in 2008 a Graduate diploma in advance performance studies in classical guitar. During this period, he participated to different Master classes with : Fabio Zanon, Matteo Mela, Lorenzo Micheli, Jérôme Ducharme, etc...). In may 2008, he won the first prize in the categories of soloist and chamber music at the regional music competition of the QMEA. In August 2008, he was invited to the Canadian national music festival in Edmonton where he finished with the second prize as a soloist.
