Bio
Durango began as a studio project involving artists on Endgame Records, and friends of its parent studio, Megaphon Studios.
Out of a three-day jam session, loops cut from disco records were mixed with surreal analog drum patterns, synth melodies and live bass lines.
Essentially electronic pop, Matthew Bright from garage post-rock band Alien Christ was originally responsible for much of the original bass, guitar and chord structure. Fellow Clan Analog and Krang member, John Prendergast, Shane Fahey (Makers of the Dead Travel Fast, sound recordist and engineer), and engineer Steve McMillan then combined analog synths, keyboards and samplers, developing and further changing the direction of the songs.
The project then progressed to more involved programming and editing in Logic and Protools by Steve. Vocalist Samantha Findley joined, bringing her heavenly voice, melodies and lyrics to the outfit. Early in her career as a singer, Sam's potential was realised immediately by Shane, Steve and Matthew. Sally Odling performs as guest vocalist (and lyricist) on the single Golden One.
The songs shift and change, twist and turn. Sam's dream-like, fragile lyrics weave throughout, translating the music into a human experience.
Durango's album is being released through Endgame Records in October 2006.
