"Durant Ride Review"

From beginning to end, "Ride" is an entertaining and uplifting album with everything from Acappella Company classics to new arrangements of folk and pop songs. Each of the seven members has a unique voice which blends nicely with all the others, creating a solid group dynamic capitalizing on the wide variety of vocal styles. From the Southern Gospel "River Medley" to the slow groove of "People Get Ready" to the pure energy of "Without Love" and "Ride the Chariot," Durant exhibits versatility and musicianship in every note. They even include a cover of "Thank You" by Boys II Men and a beautiful arrangement of the praise song "As the Deer," just in case they didn't have enough variety already!
Ride also comes with the first edition of "Durant:The Comic," as well as a track of hilarious outtakes from the recording studio which provides a glimpse into the personalities of Durant. - a-cappella.com

"Christian Musicians Whose Talent Runs Deep"

(Free-Press-Release.com) June 7, 2008 --

It’s not that Durant chooses not to use instruments, but partly because their roots lie with the founder and producer of Acappella, a group that is completely non-instrumental and because every member of Durant holds such talent that whatever instrumental sound they need, they can duplicate vocally. It’s nothing short of amazing and will positively keep you mesmerized.

Keith Lancaster has talent and anyone familiar with the Christian music group Acappella knows that. But have you heard his children? Famous among the Southern Gospel genre for over 25 years, fans have been enjoying the amazing vocal talent of Acappella. We are now in the 21st Century and as time progresses, talents get better and stronger and children grow up.

This remains true for the offspring of Lancaster and his wife, Sharon. Not only has he produced a son who will one day be in his shoes, but Melissa, the oldest daughter who is producing and managing as well. Kimberly Brant, second daughter and singer for Durant is married to Alan Brant, the bass singer for Acappella. What a great combination the two make. The youngest daughter is a student at David Lipscomb at the present and tours with them on her college breaks.

And the legend goes on – just when everyone assumed that Acappella was the only group alive who could do what they do with their voices, along comes Durant. The group Durant, named after Durant LaRue Lancaster, the father of the oh-so-popular Keith Lancaster, rises to the top with the children of Keith and Sharon Lancaster. Not only do they get their musical talent from their father but some of the credit goes to their mother who has had quite a hand in the ability they so awesomely project.

As they plan their upcoming Christmas tour presenting their new musical accomplishments, they are touring the country to showcase their talents to area churches who have called for their voices to ring out, calling to those who may have never darkened their doors. What a powerful thing music is and Durant has the unique tendency to draw a crowd.

Durant, a group of young and fiercely talented individuals keep you on the edge of your seat as they belt out sounds belonging to a full orchestra – or maybe a band – well at any rate, they make sounds of vocal percussion that trick the average ear into hearing instruments. As we are all familiar with Acappella being just that – non-instrumental, we are introduced to the amazing sounds of Durant. - free-press-release.com

A mixed ensemble...
Audiences across the country are talking about the 2008 MCA Awards Group of the Year! Durant is a group of six young men and women with a passion for making music and praising the Lord. With energetic stage presence, powerful vocals and a style all their own, Durant is spreading the gospel of Jesus through their unique blend of rich a capella tradition with the influence of contemporary styles.

Durant members include siblings Melissa Lancaster and Kim Lancaster-Brantley, along with Michael D'eila, Rachel Tuggle Whorton, Darren Whorton, and Mandy Wilson. Several of the members performed together in the group X-Changed at Lipscomb University before forming Durant. The name “Durant” comes from the Lancasters' grandfather and is in honor of his amazing Christian influence in their lives.

Their album, RIDE, received the CASA nomination for Best Religious album, so be sure to pick up a few dozen copies and share with your friends. They also have several other credentials under their belt, including Song of the Year for "People Get Ready", and a #1 song on the Christian Country charts, "His Righteousness". Durant can often be found onstage with Acappella, or cruising with Keith Lancaster, so be on the lookout for this group. You won’t want to miss them!
