Bio

DustEn WEs

Born in Los Angeles, California and now residing in Houston, Texas, Dusten Wes is a hip-hop artist who has a strong West Coast sound to him. He writes his own lyrics and has original music, which is rare in today’s music world.

Dusten Wes says, “I’m bringing hip-hop back to its original form”. Dusten Wes has been featured in Houston’s What It Dew! magazine in the “Next to Blow” section released February 2007.

Dusten Wes began rapping when he was seven or eight and was a battle rapper from ages thirteen to sixteen, winning the number one and two spots in contests around Los Angeles. He is also the cousin to deceased, MC Trouble. At age seventeen he moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he met the A&R for Too Short. The A&R was interested in signing Dusten Wes, but he was on his way into the army. In 1998, Dusten Wes opened for known acts such as, DMX and Wu Tang on the Bobby Digital tour in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In 1999 at age eighteen, Dusten Wes began his first project. He performed a song “Spit This” in Fort Rally, Kansas and it is still playing in a local club today! At age nineteen, A&Rs for record labels that had artists such as, Jermaine Dupree and Puff Daddy wanted to sign Dusten Wes, but could not because he was in the army. In Korea, Dusten Wes began touring with the Army’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program and soon after he performed at bases in Japan, Cambodia, and Laos.

In 2002, Dusten Wes came back to the United States where he performed in more shows. In 2003 he opened for Lil Flip, Ying Yang Twins, and Trina. He was also a semi-finalist for “unsigned hype” at a club in Killeen, Texas. Dusten Wes’ projects were put on hold when he was sent to Iraq in 2004. He still performed with MWR at clubs and on bases and he became well known among his fellow soldiers. In 2005, Dusten Wes came back to the United States as he had completed his military term. He then moved to Houston, Texas to further pursue his music career. In Houston, he began working with producers, NOMAD and Dot, and artist, Flave. Dusten Wes is a member of an entertainment crew called Dirty Rugged, which includes various artists and producers with the same goals in mind.

The music world can expect many more great things from this natural born hip-hop artist.
