Bio

"BONE CRUSHING YET SWEET WITH A STRONG AFTERTASTE!"

We are a 5 piece Rock band from Reykjavik, Iceland. Home of Björk and Air-Traffic stopping volcanoes. We fuse Rock with Metal and various other styles in a heavy yet melodic way. Please visit our website www.dustrocks.com

- Dust has toured America twice.
- Released two albums.
- Worked with Nickelback producer Dale Penner and Ken “Hiwatt” Marshall, whom you may be familiar with from Metallica’s Hero of the Day single.
- Dust has been featured on television before, as their early singles Truth and In My Blood were featured on MTV’s Real World & Road Rules Challenge (Season 7 episode 3 the Gauntlet).
- d.u.s.t performed a showcase at The Back Room in Austin, Texas at the SXSW (South by Southwest) festival, one of three Icelandic bands that year.

Arnar “aVo” Friðriksson was a contestant on Channel 2 Iceland’s reality TV show Bubbi’s Band (Bandið Hans Bubba) produced by Saga Film. Similar to the Rock-Star series, it featured Iceland’s biggest name in the music industry Bubbi Morthens, as he was in search of Iceland’s best rock singer, aVo placed second, but to us he’s the clear winner.
Thorvaldur has played in numerous bands including Coral, Ímynd which featured the vocal talents of Alexander Aron whom competed in the Idol series tv show in Iceland..
The newest members are from the larger than life Metal band Shogun, they won the Músiktilraunir Tónabæjar cometition, a sort of Battle of the Bands, not to mention being one of the most kick ass bands ever to grace the stage.
Dave Dunn is a founding member of Dust and is a vital driving force behind the band.

Radio Killer (2009 - Tom Kat Records DSN) is named for the band’s dismay for the retro music passing for rock n’ roll. It includes 13 incredible tracks, the internet hit T-Bird Romance and the opening track Blame. Which received good airtime on X977, Iceland’s premier rock radio… Sweet ballads such as the hit radio single “Personal Rock Star”, “Flow” and “The Voice” and the song “Summer”, which was remixed by Ken Hiwatt Marshall for American radio, with various American radio stations picking us up.

The band is venturing into new territory as they complete the recording of Yellowcake with producer Albert Asvaldsson. “The songs are heavier, yet more melodic, it’s hard to explain. They just rock..” Expected late 2011/Early 2012.
