"Shut Eye Records and Agency"

Dusty Libido write greasy, foot-stompin' rock n' roll. Whether you call it rockabilly, jukebox country, or rock n' roll, there's no denying that this stuff is authentic. Much like the complex "rurality" of The Court and Spark or Royal City, Dusty Libido craft a sound unmistakably American, steeping in tradition while yearning to arrive somewhere outside of the canon of Americana. Accessible enough for Roots Radio and eccentric enough for the college airwaves, DL writes music so good it'll make you slap your mama! - Ryan Hoffer

Bio

Dusty Libido’s Deep Rooted was recorded through the fall of 2003, released in March of 2004 and was picked up by Rouge Records in December of that same year. The group’s lineup, consisting of Brian Riley (vocals), Mike Blask (guitars), Sean Bondareff (bass guitar), and Keith Ryan (drums) has been intact for 2 ½ years. Along with guest Dale Grisa (keyboards), this is the band heard on this 7 song release.
Formed originally as a blues-based rock band, Dusty Libido has grown to embrace many styles of American music including funk and bluegrass. The diversity of the band’s influences is heard throughout Deep Rooted, from the rural shuffle of Whiskey Stomp to the urban groove of Good Johnson. This being said, Dusty Libido is a rock and roll band.
The group has been gigging regularly since their formation in and around Detroit and have recently begun to take their music throughout the Midwest. This past summer’s highlights included headlining the Pre-Race at Millrace outdoor concert in Columbus, Indiana and performing during the Dearborn Homecoming Festival in Dearborn, Michigan where Kid Rock sat in with the band. Other accomplishments have included gigs at Pontiac’s Arts Beats and Eats and regular appearances at Royal Oak’s Memphis Smoke and Ann Arbor’s Blind Pig.
Currently the band is working to promote Deep Rooted with Rouge Records while putting together a new batch of songs with the attempt to focus their sound and blend their many influences into finely crafted songs. The plan is to get back into the studio in early 2005 and put together a new album with the tentative title Rock Your Face.
