Dutchy

Devonta Lin Anderson, better known by his stage name Dutchy, is an underground American hip-hop recording artist out of Virginia. Dutchy, 23, was born and raised in Danville,Va (southern VA),a small city with very little opportunity or hope for success. Dutchy recalls getting the nickname Dutchy from his peers, due to the amount of marijuana and Dutchmaster brand cigars he consumed daily. Dutchy and his 2 older siblings (brother&sister) were raised by a single mother, due to the fact that his father passed away in 1997. After Dutchy's older brother, AK, got incarcerated for 15 years in 1999 on an armed robbery charge and narcotic possesion charge, Dutchy turned to the streets as an outlet. Having no father figure or role models present, he decided to create his own path through trial & error. During this time Dutchy spent most of his days away from home, out searching for himself and trying to get a gauge on life. Him and his friends and older cousins were into the street life, mainly because everybody around him at the time were doing the same thing, hustling, doing drugs, partying and living for the moment with no thoughts of tomorrow.  Music has always been apart of Dutchy's life since he was a kid. His mother would recall Dutchy being a fan of music as early as 1996 at age 4, he would take anything and make drums out of it. Getting older and realizing that college wasn't realistic, Dutchy decided to join the Armed Forces with hopes of networking and traveling and expansion. After realizing the military life isnt the life for him, Dutchy decided to take his music career serious and to the next level. In 2013 he decided to relocate to the Hampton Roads area for more opportunity and to pursue a career in music. Currently residing in Norfolk, Va, Dutchy has been making a name for himself in the 757 area slowly but surely. Getting booked to perform at local clubs and venues to get exposure. Even getting booked as the opening act for the legendary hip-hop icon AZ. Dutchy accredits his passion and go-hard attitude to the "pain of loss." Dutchy recalls some family members and close friends of his were either killed or incarcerated during his upbringing and those were wake-up calls for him, stating "I knew i had to do something different with my life before i ended up going down the same path." With the release of his first EP "Mind Elevation" in the works, Dutchy is trying to grow as a man and as an artist. With Dutchy being a versatile artist, you never know what to expect. Which is much needed with the current state of hip-hop being very predictable and boring, all sounding similar to the next artist. Dutchy has proved that he has the charisma, the appeal, and the mindset of a star.
