Bio

DWIGHT ANDERSON

Dwight Anderson is a multi-talented singer/songwriter/producer on the rise to superstardom. This 22 year old soul singer has an energy that electrifies the air around him. When describing his vocal abilities, it is said that Dwight is gifted, creative, imaginative and an extraordinary performer.

Dwight's music combines the rhythms of r/b,hip hop, & soul. He writes heartfelt lyrics along with catchy melodies and beautiful harmonies. Dwight can be distinguished by his raw, soulful voice and dynamic vocal arrangements. Vocalists such as Al Green, Steve Wonder, R.Kelly, Musiq, Donell Jones, Jaheim, and Usher have been Dwight's influences. Others may hear Dwight's voice and say he reminds them of another influence of his, Dave Hollister, (former lead singer for hit r/b group Blackstreet who is one of today's most soulful singers in the r/b world). However, one cannot deny that Dwight has developed his own unique singing style that puts him in a class of his own.

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Dwight has been performing since the age of 6 and writing songs since the of 13. Dwight's performances began in church choirs but it was when he turned 15 that began entering into talent shows and performing in elite nightclubs. With so much determination and drive Dwight would work a part-time job and save all of his money to put towards making his first demo, which he wrote and co-produced at only the age of 16. While constantly performing, recording, and writing new material, Dwight realized he needed a manager who would believe in his talents and can take his career to the next level. But it was when he performed his soulful rendition of Stevie Wonder's classic, "Knocks me off my feet" he caught the attention of manager Natasha Nisha, CEO of Star Destiny Entertainment. Immediately she showed interest of becoming his manager. Impressed by her vision, professionalism, loyalty, and work ethic, Dwight didn't refuse the offer. Dwight Anderson had signed his first professional management deal at the age of 19.

With 4 years of experience and a new manager, Dwight was only getting even more motivated and determined to make his dream come true. But although he was writing groundbreaking material, he just needed that right producers. Dwight then met up with Brooklyn born, multi-platinum producer/songwriter Marcus Kane (Glenn Lewis, Snow, Gary Beals). When Marcus heard Dwight sing he immediately wanted to work with the talented singer. The first song they completed was the heavy bass driven track "Oh No”.

Once the song was completed, radio stations did not hesitate to add "Oh No" to their play list. "Oh No" became a radio hit on Toronto's Flow 93.5 FM and Newbrunswick's CFMH 92.5FM. Listed as one of the most requested songs of the year, Oh No ranked at #53 on the charts for Flow 93.5 FM's Top 93 Songs of 2003. With the success of "Oh No", Dwight was given a grant from Videofact to make a video for the single. The video is being played on MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic, and MuchVibe.

In 2004, Dwight released two other successful radio singles, the gospel inspired love song "Holdin' On" and the sexy club track "Tonite" featuring Show. Both songs were written by Dwight and Marcus Kane.

While making a name for himself with his own material, Dwight had also done collaborations with other artists. You can hear Dwight on the single "Drop The Chrome" which also features other artists such as Maestro, Thrust, Michie Mee, Skitz, Ray Robinson, Craig Smart, and Canadian Idol finalists Gary Beals & Toya Alexis. The single is in stores now and the video can be seen on MuchMusic and MuchVibe. Dwight also co-wrote two songs, "Memories" and the first single "Summer Nights" for Canadian Idols' runner up Gary Beals' major debut album which is in stores now.

Dwight has been gifted with a head start but he is definitely in it for the long run. Currently working on his debut album, due to be released next year, you can expect some big things coming from this talented young artist. Both hopeful and grounded, Dwight Anderson is well on his way to becoming a major innovative artist in today's music scene!
