"DYK – Studio Project Explodes Into More"

By Keith Pro

You never know exactly what will come from a couple musicians just playing together for fun. Magic can happen when thoughts are aligned and each band member adds their own element to create something much bigger than the sum of its parts... - INDIE BAND GURU

DYK (Do You Know) is a rock band formed in 2015. The core members are JE Zerpa (drums, percussion) and Oscar Fanega (bass guitar, backing vocals). DYK started as a production project rather than a live band, where all initial compositions and ideas came from a garage studio in the city of Deerfield Beach, FL, late in 2014. "DYK – All Criminals (single)"

Officially formed in 2015, the electronically influenced alt-rock band known as DYK (Do You Know) actually began as a production project in a garage in Deerfield Beach, FL in 2014…no band intended. Fast forward a few years, and the band has found it’s tribe. The creative center of the band is the rhythm section, where members JE Zerpa (drums, percussion) & Oscar Fanega (bass guitar, backing vocals) build their compositions. The final piece is a lead vocalist known only as The Ghost.

“Here comes the war
Forget the laws destroy the earth
Won’t see the signs
The floods, the rain, the earth complains
By GOD we kill
We feel the breath of empty space
All gods are dead
The way of modern men” - The Ark of Music

"INTERVIEW: DYK"

– The single comes off your new album World Without Face – what’s the story behind the title?
Great question, just take a look at a family having dinner together, well, the reality is that they are not together. The two kids, Jennifer and Michael are probably on their cellphones, Jenny is checking Instagram, some posting about POT, getting high, or where the party is going to be on Monday, while Michael is looking at some semi-naked 15 years old girls, maybe one of his friends just sent him some other type of video, who knows, mom or dad are not caring anyways. On the other side of the table is Kim, the mother (not to be confused with one of those Kardashians), she is checking the newest purses, and maybe going for the most expensive one. Dad, Mr. Richard, just got home from work, he was listening to the song Driving and Crashing, the food is cold, but Kim simply doesn’t care anymore, in fact, she is asking if he received the new credit card, he justpreferred to leave the table and watch TV until 10 or 11 p.m., go to bed and drive to work at 6 a.m. He will watch all the neighbors getting in their cars at the same time, doesn’t know their names; no one says good morning, they just drive. Millions of people are doing this, day after day, like automatons, like machines. Therefore, there is no real face to put on those cellphones, those TV screens, is a complete emptiness;everybody is more concern about having than being. In other words, we are all the same, no face, no identity, we copy each other, we are just a number in the system, no face. “World Without Face”... - VENTS MAGAZINE

Bio

DYK

Do you know, named, as DYK
is a rock band formed in 2015. The band utilized a broad sound spectrum with a
mix in between guitars and synthesizers.

The core of the band is the
rhythm section, where members JE Zerpa
(drums, percussion) & Oscar Fanega
(bass guitar, backing vocals) build their compositions.

DYK
started as a production project rather than a live band, where all initial
compositions and ideas came from a garage studio in the city of Deerfield
Beach, FL, late in 2014. Writer/Producer and Drummer, JE Zerpa composed a
series of arrangements and ideas, reflecting and tackling political and social
issues, and daily reality among the average people. Music could be
the best platform to symbolize social topics because rhythm and melody touch
more than representing it by simple words.

DYK
present best by its lyrics and composition, which reveals the bitter realities
of life in a beautiful way for being bothered. They make people to think that
how their lives are going worse because of their own selves.

DYK
released their debut album, World Without Face, in 2016, incorporated rock, pop
and electronic elements, influenced by 1980s groups such as The Police, Rush,
Peter Gabriel, Depeche Mode, among others, creating an eclectic sound.

The vocal member (singer),
known as the GHOST, brings a final and unique style with flair of Brian Johnson
and Scott Weiland, able to cut through the sound coming from distortions and
the rest of the band.

The GHOST, vocalist,
produces such a rock sound which can’t be challenged. His beat for rock music
comes mainly from a rhythm and blues. He gives the hidden words of society a
new life by his voice providing a strong base.
