Feeling a bit camera shy

Born in Brooklyn, NY. His mother and father both hailed from Grenada in the West Indies. His father was the lead Guitarist of the reggae band Y.T.T.
(Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow). Music was in his blood from birth.
The sound of Flatbush in the eighties was Reggae and Hip hop, and it resonated through Dylan. At the age of ten he wrote his first rap song, inspired by Run DMC. His talent as a performer emerged early. Life in a predominantly Caribbean community brought him into the dancehall movement and he landed a job with Genesis Super Sound carrying equipment for the Reggae Dj crew. By Fourteen he was spinning on Black Crystal sound system playing basement and "hookie" parties for neighborhood kids.
At Fifteen his parents became concerned with the major influence of the streets on their son. They moved him to Aruba and then sent Dylan to live with his Grandparents in Carriacou, Grenada. He went to school, tended to the farm animals, planted food and spent his spare time with the Rasta community.

Years later now in Long Island, New York, Dylan DilinJah did two semesters in college and then left to pursue his dream. He joined forces with a local Dj named Precise and ArkAngel sound. MCing for the sound system, loaded with artistic arsenal he captivated audiences with a fusion of hip hop flow, reggae lyricism and dancehall style thru-out New York, from LI, back to Brooklyn and Manhattan. His performance in Brooklyn came to the attention of Junior Bourne from J. Bourne Entertainment, a radio executive at the leading Reggae distributor, VP Records. DilinJah joined the VP Records street team in New York, playing the Reggae Gold parties and various events alongside the leading dancehall artist of our generation.

Dylan DilinJah's passion for composition soon overshadowed his career as a DJ. He flew circles between Grenada and New York, writing in the Islands and recording in the city. At Twenty One he recorded an album at a Lo Pro studios and named it "Calm Before the Storm". With the help of his crew in NY and a good friend from Jamaica "D. Beckford", he formed Gorilla Family. They soon changed their name to NuGun. (New Gorilla United Nations). They pressed up copies of the album, sold it hand to hand and promoted small shows and open mic sessions from New York to Florida.
In Sep. 2002 Dylan auditioned for the MTV show "Making the Band". Out of Forty thousand, he was chosen as one of the six to form a group called "DaBand". Selling more than 200,000 units in their first week, DaBand debuted at Number 2 on the Billboard charts for the 2003 album "Too Hot for TV". The album went on to Platinum success. Dylan the DilinJah performed for over 3 million viewers on all three seasons of the MTV Reality show. He was dubbed the rebel of the Band, going against the grain musically and artistically, constantly in controversy.

When the show ended its run, Dylan appeared on several Mixtapes. Dj Kay Slay, P.Cutta, Dallas Green, Papa Smurf, Supa Sam, Finess, Linda Carter and On Point to name a few. He appeared on NY's Hot97 radio and TRL on MTV and aired out his Beef and problems with his ex Boss. With tension and drama in the air, he released is own mixtape hosted by DJ Sickamore called "Life After Diddy". It sold five thousand copies the first week and went as far as Israel, Japan and Australia. It went beyond One hundred thousand in sales by the end of 2004.

Now with the problems, drama and confusion behind him, Dylan DilinJah is moving on. Now as a solo artist and plans to Release a DVD, mixtape named "Back for the First Time". His album is almost finished and named "No Regrets", to be released in 2006. He is currently developing his acting skills, and being photographed for stories in top magazines. In the future he plans on helping other Caribbean artist and making sure they all see American platinum success. A Store, recording studio, and clothing line are all in the works as well. For the Rebel Born, Dylan DilinJah the Journey has just begun.
