D.Z. Vibe is a groundbreaking band that defines new horizons for the blues. Its members bring a wealth of diverse musical experience in a variety of different but complimentary genres that comes together in D.Z. Vibe’s funky and swinging common core. The band embarks on a sonic adventure that is multi layered but extremely accessible to the listener. D.Z Vibe stretches the limits of blues, touching many other musical genres.
This band of virtuoso musicians brings a refreshing, creative, approach to blues, r&b, rock and soul/jazz, performing a repertory of standards, lesser known classics and original compositions featuring powerful arrangements and compelling and provocative soloing. D.Z. Vibe brings the audience with them on a special musical journey.
The band:
Guitarist and vocalist Jon Wolfe is a veteran of the Chicago, Austin and New York scenes. He was a member of the Sam Lay Band (former Paul Butterfield drummer) with Rick Estrin of Little Charlie and the Nightcats when he lived in Chicago, where he also played with Howlin' Wolf, Eddie Taylor, Big Walter Horton, Jimmy Johnson and many others. In Austin, Wolfe played with Angela Strehli, Luther Tucker and sax master “Kaz” Kazanoff. Since moving back to New York, he has performed and recorded with Jerry Jemmott and others in a variety of settings, and is featured on a blues compilation with former Muddy Waters harmonica player Paul Oscher, who he also played with for several years.
Richard Reiter is a nationally acclaimed jazz/r&b sax player who has released several albums of his own, and has recorded and performed with Danny Gatton, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Wilson, the Temptations and the Supremes. Reiter¹s jazz groups have performed extensively at clubs, festivals and special events, and his recordings have been featured on "Smooth Jazz CD 101.9." Drummer Matt Patuto is a virtuoso veteran of many fine blues and rock ensembles, and has played with Poppa Chubby, Big Ed and the Sidepockets, Commander Cody, Joe Taino and many others.
Bass player Takashi Otsuka has played with Bob Mintzer, Vic Juris, Lew Soloff, Claudio Roditi, and has collaborated with Richard Reiter on several projects.
D.Z. Vibe has been playing clubs and other venues in New York and New Jersey, including Tierney’s Tavern (Montclair,NJ), Olive’s (Nyack, NY), Laila Lounge (Brooklyn,NY) Café Luna Rossa (Clifton, NJ), The Philipstown Depot Theatre (Garrison, NY) and Ocean Place Resort and Spa (Long Branch,NJ)
