“This is like kinda Neil Young ‘on the beach’ mixed with some Paul Simon and Dr. Dog. I’m loving it!”— Andy Hull, Manchester OrchestraIn late 2014 a demo of Eagle's song, "Hero," was heard by Stevie McQuinn and passed on to Timon Martin of Kimbra's band. (Kimbra was featured on Gotye's hit "Somebody That I Used to Know.") In an email Timon said he loved the song's hook and asked to co-produce the track. Digital production sessions were sent back and forth between Australia and Nashville via Dropbox for almost a year.Timon and Stevie's synths were then transferred to tape and mixed in with a live version tracked by Billy Bennett at the Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville. The result is a beautiful, silky, digital/analog hybrid mastered by Nashville's John Baldwin.The track "Hero" will be on the upcoming album Tennessee Beach produced by Eagle Johnson & Clean Machine with additional production by Billy Bennett, Timon Martin, and Stevie McQuinn.www.cleanmachinemusic.com
