Bio

Baltimore-born singer/songwriter e.a. kameen spent the summer of 2013 recording his debut EP, “At the Bottom of the Sea”. His passion for a variety of writing styles is evident in his lyrics, as he draws often from the guiding principles of lyrical and non-lyrical poetry, as well as from other narrative and historical influences. His penchant for story-telling is also evident in his work, as he developed his interest in songwriting while studying English and Creative Writing at the University of the South; Sewanee.

With a songwriting style reminiscent of David Dondero and Conor Oberst, the musical influences of e.a kameen can be drawn to The Head and the Heart, Kevin Devine, the Shins, and Monsters of Folk. With artistic style reviewed as a balance between “influence and originality,” the album is described in the artist's own words as  “a great start to my musical and lyrical journey.”

“At the Bottom of the Sea” was recorded in a downtown Baltimore studio operated by his lifelong friend Matt Hutton (percussion). A rotating crew of indie musicians and artistic collaborators also worked on the album–including Schuyler Allen (bass and piano) and Ian McLaughlin (guitar) – and the group has spent the past three years writing, recording, and producing a variety of other musical endeavors. The EP was released by HBP Records and is available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and several other music platforms.

e.a kameen has spent the past two and half years living in Austin, Texas, where he has been writing and recording music, and teaching English in the Austin Public Schools. He recently completed his Master’s Degree in Education at the University of Texas at Austin, and is now moving to Nashville, Tennessee where he will continue his work as a teacher and his development as a songwriter.

His musical goals in the next year include releasing several new singles and ultimately working towards the release of his first full-length album.

HBP Records is based in Baltimore, Maryland. Contact e.a.kameen (eakameen@gmail.com) or Matt Hutton (huttonmk@gmail.com), or visit the Website: www.eakameen.com
