Early Maxwell? EP

Imagine Paul McCartney, Ludwig Von Beethoven, Travis Barker and Jerry Garcia joining in the 21st Century and recording an album together. Four men with completely different styles, yet masters of their work, create a new genre of music by combining their diversity. Would the outcome be a disaster? Its not likely from musical geniuses. Although this combination is impossible, students of their design hold the opportunity to produce the collaborative sound. The artists that form the group, Early Maxwell, stay true to their roots, creating an outcome far from a disaster. Early Maxwell includes Josh Keohane, blues/classic rock singer and guitarist, Hunter Thoda, classical pianist, Joe Casey, punk/new wave drummer, David Oliver bass/vocals and Mike Prine, reggae alternate percussion. The bands musical influences emerge in their sound, building an album true to their roots, yet still exploring new territory in its genre. For example, the artists show bluegrass association in their song The Castle, reggae and jazz sound in Sharpening Time and an alternative pop selection in Protest. While the variety of sounds link to specific genres, the group maintains a sound that is only Early Maxwell The band has performed at various venues in Memphis, TN including the Tap Room, Half Shell, T.J. Mulligans, Full Moon Club, Young Avenue Deli, Gill's, Newby's, Brookhaven, Flying Saucer, Neil's, and New Daisy Theater. -J. Weatherly
