Bio

In 2002 charismatic singer Carole Denis from London and virtuoso guitarist Joep Berkenbosch from Amsterdam met at a popular jam session Joep hosted in the city. The two immediately hit it off personally as well as musically. After occasionally working together on different projects over the next four years they finally decided it was time to do their own thing… together!

In 2006 they joined forces to create a Funk/Rock band in which they could truly be themselves: “Ear Piercing for Babies”. Combining Joep’s naturally funky guitar grooves, his raw, heavy riffs and improvised guitar solo’s with the powerful vocals and lyrics of Carole they called their music ‘Power Funk’. Travelling back and forth between their homes in London and Amsterdam the duo worked diligently with different rhythm sections in both cities to shape their sound.

A lucky break came quickly when an Amsterdam promoter heard rumours that the two were working on a new project and immediately booked them for the prestigious “Uitmarkt” festival in Amsterdam. “EP4B” was given the honourable job of closing the festival on one of the main stages. Their debut show was an enormous success and led to a lot of attention from the Dutch music scene. The band has been compared to acts like “Red Hot Chili Peppers”, “Skunk Anansie”, “Living Colour”, and “Band of Gypsies”.

Another big brake came in March when EP4B was the last band added to the impressiva line-up of the "Jam in the Dam" festival in the Melkweg in Amsterdam. EP4B held it's own and even managed to stand out amongst an impressive line-up including Keller Williams and Galactic. The latter were so impressed that they invited Joep and Carole to jam with them on the two consecutive nights of the festival. For many who witnessed it, the EP4B set was the high light of the festival's opening night.

Ear Piercing for Babies just finished recording their first single with special guests Nick Van Gelder (original drummer for Jamiroquai) on drums, Coen Molenaar (Jan Akkerman band) on keys and Lars Karakusevic on bass. The single will be on here soon!
