Earwig

Earwig

BandAlternative

"Earwig is a high energy, stripped down, underground-rock, three piece with emotionally intelligent lyrics. They deftly straddle the line between reckless rock and roll mayhem and deliberate organized song crafting. The Who and Nirvana both come to mind."

Biography

Earwig is a high energy, stripped down, underground-rock trio. Natives of Columbus, Ohio, they frequently tour the Midwest from Chicago to New York. Working at a steady pace over the last several years, the band has been in no hurry to sell themselves short for any mythical big break with a major label. Putting out a series of critically acclaimed but hard to find albums on "micro-indie" record label LFM Records, the band has gathered a small, but ferociously loyal, nationwide fan base. With the release of their new CD "Center Of The Earth", that fan base is growing more quickly than anyone expected. Known for great songwriting and remembered for their spontaneous and reckless live shows, Earwig has long been one of independent musics best kept secrets. They regularly draw 100-200 people to shows in their hometown of Columbus, Ohio. In the last 6 months, Earwig has sold 1500 copies of their new CD -Center Of The Earth at shows, in stores and online.

In December 2006, Columbus Ohio's Mega-Alternative Rock station CD101 added Earwig's song 'Used Kids' to their regular rotation play-list. It was a risky move that paid off for the station and the band, landing Earwig's song in the Top 5 most requested songs at the station ever since. That's a feat almost un-heard of for a small, do-it-yourself band. The popularity of the single has spread to other stations as well (Sirius, Top 5 at college radio; ACRN, WXCU, WCBE, WOBN and others in Ohio that report to the CMJ). The local press was quick to report the airplay and national media are starting to pick up on the band's story with upcoming reviews in The Big Takeover and Alternative Press.

A virtually unknown band on an incredibly small label, Earwig on "micro-indie" LFM Records released an album on their own in early 2007. By April, they had a Top 5 single on a huge commercial station (WWCD101/Columbus), their digital sales were skyrocketing and they had signed a deal with superstore mega-chain Meijer to distribute their CD and bring them into 7 million households in 5 states.

Drag

Drag
by Earwig

I was standing right there when she let go
I was begging you please but you still said no
I was washing my hair
You were washing your hands of the whole affair

What a drag, you let me down
Turned my back and you’re not around
Once in a while, once in a while

Better to loose, you know it’s hard to find
It’s better to loose, you know what’s on my mind
but here I go, here I go again

I won’t hold my breath while I wait on you
I could hold my breath until I’m black and blue
but here I go, here I go again

You’re not stupid now
you’ve got something to find a little
you’ve got to say then say it

It’s kinda hard to say just what I mean
But once in a while, once in a while

What a drag, you let me down
turned my back and you’re not around
Once in a while...once in a while

You’re not stupid now
you’ve got something to find a little
you’ve got to say then say it

What a drag, you let me down
I turned my back and you’re not around
Once in a while...once in a while

Here I go about to let you down
Here I go about to let you down
Well here I go,
here I go again

Used Kids

Used Kids

Ron House runs a seven eleven in a rebel hat and boot cut jeans
He hears songs from God on his Walkman radio, he swears he don’t know what they mean.
He says, “Hey man, if we’re still standing around, you and me, after a millennium war...
Ron says, “We can bury the bodies out back behind the store.

He says, “Hey man, don’t worry I got a ride, I’m going home with Jesus tonight.

Ron House is a mobile deejay for dance parties and fashion shows.
There is a message hidden in the music he plays, but what it is he doesn’t know.
He says, “Hey man, we could make a killing tonight, you and me out on the dance floor.
and Ron says we can bury the bodies out back behind the store.

Hey says, “Hey man, don’t worry I got a ride, I’m going home with Jesus tonight.

Ron says there’s nothing like being saved, if you can stand the pain of it all.
It’s better than a famous lover, he claims she’s going to keep him warm tonight.

Ron says he knows what I’m thinking, I’m just a sunk son of a son-of-a-gun.
But Ron says that we can all be cowboys again, just like when we were young.
He says, “Kids today are used up and anxious, they think they see a sympathetic look in my eye.
Ron says he never says he’s sorry because he doesn’t like to lie.

He says, “Hey man, don’t worry I got a ride, I’m going home with Jesus tonight.
