Biography

I AM A SONG

I AM A SONG, I LONG TO BE SHARED
I AM A TREE OF THE FRUIT OF PASSION I’VE BARED
I CAN DREAM, THO’ I’VE COME TO BE FREE
I HAVE ROOTS THAT CAN HUMBLE AND STEADY MY PLEAS
A SONG – I AM A SONG

THERE WAS A POEM THAT BEGGED TO BE HEARD
THE PAINTINGS REFLECTION WAS STATIC AND BLURRED
SILENT SCULPTURES SAT WISHING TO BE
A VESSEL LIKE ME, A VESSEL LIKE ME
A SONG – I AM A SONG

I AM AS STRONG AS YOUR VOICE WILL ALLOW
I AM POOR AND MISUSED UNTIL NOW
INTERPRETED WISDOM LIKE WAVES IN THE SEA
A SONG - I AM A SONG - I CARRY THE PASSION IN ME

NOWHERE ELSE ARE WE ALLOWED TO DANCE
SO WILLINGLY GIVEN AWAY, GIVEN CHANCE
SPIRITS CONNECT AND FEEL THEY BELONG
I CARRY YOUR PASSIONS, I CARRY YOUR SONG
A SONG – I AM A SONG

I AM AS STRONG AS YOUR VOICE WILL ALLOW
I AM POOR AND MISUSED UNTIL NOW
INTERPRATED WISDOM LIKE WAVES IN THE SEA
A SONG - I AM A SONG - I CARRY THE PASSION IN ME
A SONG - I AM A SONG - I CARRY THE PASSION IN ME.

THETAOJONESPROJECT;
is where E.B.Martin's Singer/Songwriter friends come to play and collaborate with E.B. in the studio. The recordings are simple bare-bones accompaniment. Live off the floor. Highlighting what matters - the song.

An affiliate of SOCAN and Songwriters Association of Canada, E.B. has spent much of his 44 yrs. admiring and learning, from the great folk/roots talent Canada and the World has to offer - Hank (the other one) Snow, Willie P. Bennett, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Lowell George, Sam Cook and many others have influenced a songwriting style that is as varied as it is incomparable. Only recently has he begun to perform and record.

On the first intallment enjoy the Projects first collaborative efforts from Scott B. (Sympathy) on vocals and co-author on 2 songs. As well as 2 songs penned by E.B. sung sweetly by Dawn Pear.

E.B.Martin welcomes you to take interest and (more importantly) enjoy!!
More talent, fun and interesting collaborations to come with the TaoJonesProject experience in the near future.

Stay Tuned

Done and Gone

Done and Gone

Gone never forgotten,
Done and forgiven,
Just another train passin’ through.
Time was never too kind to us,
Too many chances given,
Taken too few.

(chorus)
Done – like a worn out ol’ suitcase,
A broken down shoe
Gone – like so many clichés,
Sad but it’s true.

Just like your father was,
Man of the house,
Nowhere to be found.
Oh, what I would give to have
The courage to tell you off,
I’d tell you off now.

Done – like a worn out ol’ suitcase,
A broken down shoe
Gone – like so many clichés,
Sad but it’s true.

(bridge)
Gone are the days,
Thought I’d be anything like you.
So squandered yet praised,
No one could ever dislike you.
Go ahead and jump from that train,
Don’t let anyone stop you.
Go ahead and jump from that train…

Let’s all raise are glasses now,
A toast to the memories,
‘Cause that’s what we do.
Searching for reasons
Pressed to our lips,
Let’s say, this one’s for you.

Done – like a worn out ol’ suitcase,
A broken down shoe
Gone – like so many clichés,
Sad but it’s true. (2x)

Gone never forgotten,
Done and forgiven,
After all we’ve been through
Time was never too kind
Just another train passin' through.

(fade away)
