Biography
Ebony K. Lockett, born November 5, 1982, is the youngest of three children born to Robert and Manuella Lockett. Growing up her family called her a dancer because she was always dancing, but she found out she could sing by “accident” in a talent show. Little did she know what God had planned for her life.

The first song Ebony ever sang was “Yes Lord” at St. Paul Baptist Church, when she was 6 years old. Later, while performing “We Are the World” in a talent show, she was edged out of the performance and decided to stick to dancing. In junior high, Ebony was asked to sing background vocals for “The Greatest Love of All” and was left singing by herself. She received a standing ovation for her performance. In that moment, Ebony knew she could actually sing.

At age 24, Ebony has entered a chapter of her life where she knows what God wants her to be. She describes herself as a “worship artist” and not a gospel singer, saying she believes music ministry is “95% ministry/worship and 5% parts.” She is a singer, songwriter and minister of the gospel at Household of Faith Family Worship Church International in New Orleans under the leadership of Pastor Antoine M. Barriere and First Lady Dale Barriere. She is also a worship leader in the HOFFWCI music ministry under the leadership of Elder Robert Boyd.

She has a heart for people and has traveled the entire world, believing that God has called her for such a time as this. Ebony vision is for a world wide ministry based on her anointing to compel men to see the Glory of the Lord and usher them into the presence of the Almighty God. She is a woman of faith and everywhere she goes she carries praise and worship on her lips. Her favorite scripture is 2 Samuel 5:10 “And David went on and grew great, and the Lord God of Hosts was with him.”


The Music
As a songwriter, Ebony expresses the Word received in sermons, personal testimony and her relationship with God. One of her first recorded songs, “Faith”, reflects her personal philosophy that it’s not enough just to believe but you have to act on what you believe in. The lyrics read “What good is to say I’m hungry and never eat? The same is with our faith if we just believe.”

Her musical influences include great voices like Mahalia Jackson, Shirley Caesar, Vicki Winans, CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams and The Clark Sisters.

Former Sony BMG/Zomba Label Group executive Max Siegel says you wouldn’t believe the voice that comes out of her mouth and Kelly Price notes that she is “A singer of singers.”

Personal Statement
Music is a universal language. Everyone loves music and it can reach you when you run from your church, when you don’t open your bible, when you’re riding in your car or lying in the hospital. When you are feeling on top of the world and when you’re under the dirt. It reaches down in your soul and touches that place of need. My desire in music is to reach across the board. I want to praise God and worship the true and living God because if I take care of Him, He will take care of everything else. I want to let the world know my experiences in life. Pre and Post Jesus. I want them to know that there is someone out there who has been where they are. They don’t need hope for tomorrow. They need hope for today. Everybody needs love and there is one place you can go where you will never run out of love. That place is behind the veil in a secret place.
