Bio
The band originally formed as an acoustic-rock trio in 2006, but Nerys, Matt and Dan found themselves wanting to expand the line-up and create something different from past projects. They fused with Marc, a separate studio-based musician who allowed the project to experiment with orchestration, synths, electric violin and recording techniques, but still retain the song-based format. So, after a long to-do about band names, Echo Deps was born.
The set contains songs that are heavily orchestrated and others that are stripped down and trip-hop-like in their simplicity. Drawing influence from Portishead to Shostakovich to Jeff Buckley to Bjork, their unique sound is an absorbing mix of captivating vocals against landscape of acoustic and electronic instruments.
