BandRockAlternative

Dave Attell had this to say about his ‘echoset experience’: “Austin really is the music capital of the USA. The town is crawling with musicians and dreams. Here I am hanging out with some future stars of tomorrow, [echoset]… you guy’s, by the way, rock! That was amazing!”

Biography

It isn’t very often that you find four women in one band, who each contribute enough personality, musicianship, and high-energy to command a live rock performance that has kept their fans loyal and converted most newcomers. On stage, Echoset is both passionate and playful; off stage, Echoset boasts mutual respect and hard work. Beth Puorro (vocals, guitar), Rae Goldring (bass), and Sarah Glynn (lead guitar, backing vocals) all agree that Echoset is much greater than the sum of its parts. And this isn’t too surprising given the three band mates have also been longtime friends.

Since its formation in 2000, the Austin, TX band has transcended difficulties common to many bands through creative thinking and fast action. The group is consistently voted one of Austin’s best live bands in the Austin Chronicle’s annual poll, and this is largely due to the group’s tireless and innovative promotional techniques. When it comes to touring, the band is quite proud of its ability to have completed 7 west coast tours and 1 east coast tour over the past 3 years. In addition to its strong presence in Texas, the group has succeeded in growing fan bases in national markets, including Portland, San Francisco, and L.A.

They have shared the stage with some of the most talented national and regional acts, including The Burden Brothers, Patrice Pike (Sister 7), Bob Schneider, Michelle Shocked, Goudie, Dollyrots, Cruiserweight and Dada.

Echoset will be in the studio this spring recording their third full length album and will take a short break from touring until the album is completed.

Learning Curve

Written By: Echoset

I stand out beyond this old mans’ crusted eye
He spits and grabs my hand as I pass by him
The wisdom of his years goes passing through my veins
And though I fear this man, I need his elder brains

Elderly – do you live in sweet, sweet harmony?

I look outside and see her baking in the sun
Lines of years make patterns – branches of her life, now
Beneath the surface of this worn and withered shell
Lies a woman who knows this damn world well

Elderly – do you live in sweet, sweet harmony?
Old man says he’ll die before his time
Old woman drinks her bottle of wine

Elderly – do you live in sweet, sweet harmony?
Old man says he’ll die before his time
Old woman drinks her bottle of wine

Patterson Avenue

The kids are watching tv in the living room
and the mothers in the bedroom making money for
a banging and the big blue creates a family stir
brave officer why you at the door for

knocked down
don't know why
only twelve, mommy hide

now there's no more tv in the living room
and the lawyers have the key to the car door
the brother said that mother's going to run away
with the copy of the key she made the night before
they'll be missed
their choice dismissed

knocked down
don't know why
only twelve, mommy hide

belonging to the background
walking on the truth
never hiding from intensions
growing up so soon

knocked down
don't know why
only twelve, mommy hide

belonging to the background
walking on the truth
never hiding from intensions
growing up so soon

Timepiece

Written By: Echoset

Picture a history condensed on our clocks
Fantastic future, so boring and so bland
Here we are, all broken up
Tired, beaten down, help up
I’m falling like metal…

My timepiece has stopped
Only the force of gravity can pull us back
My timepiece has stopped
I only search your face to keep on track

Can you remember the first time we met?
No sign of wine, you seek, you find
Do you recall the last time we met?
Hours of never mind, something you’ll never find in me

My timepiece has stopped
Only the force of gravity can pull us back
My timepiece has stopped
I only search your face to keep on track

Brand new place – label it absurd
Stay away, if it makes you feel better
Brand new place – label it a simple maze
If it makes you feel better

My timepiece has stopped
Only the force of gravity can pull us back
My timepiece has stopped
I only search your face to keep on track

Been Here Before

Written By: Echoset

I took a train - blue lights lit the way
White dolphin carries herself perfectly
Bright eyes blink twice, but not for me
But to catch the tiger walking by her, examining
Piano man’s hands, they’re older now
They’re holding the train, holding his lane, holding his, his…

We pushed and pulled all this energy
And I feel exposed in this discovery tree

Amber tones, seek solid ground
A self-defeating unicorn screams
Are all these seats brushed with spilling time?
A traveled garden beaten down by the middle kind
Talking birds create discussion
They’re holding the train, holding its lane, holding its lane
I think I’m insane, holding my lane, holding my, my…

We pushed and pulled all this energy
And I feel exposed in this discovery tree
Why do we control our curiosity?
Why do we, do we control?
Why do we, do we control?

I think I was born today
I could’ve been born today
I think it was yesterday
It could’ve been yesterday

Holding my lane, holding my train, breaking its plane
I think I’m insane, holding my lane

We pushed and pulled all this energy
And I feel exposed in this discovery tree

I think I’m insane, holding my lane, holding my lane
I think I’m insane, breaking its plane
I think I’m insane
I think I’m insane
