Eddie Andrews, the fresh new face of urban gospel. The music is hot, vocals screamin', lyrics blazin', energy furious, and the beats ignite your soul. As prolific as R. Kelly, with the passion of Kirk Franklin, all with seasoned grace! Instantly you see Eddie is unique.

Biography

Eddie has been singing and/or creating songs all of his life, beginning as a "PK" (preacher's kid) growing up in an Apostolic Pentecostal church.

Eddie is a successful engineer and entreprenuer by training. But when his "Joseph" moment came (you know, when people do bad things to good people and God turns the bad into a good thing), he just had to express the music and song inside.

His music fuses the R&B sound with Gospel, mixes in Hip-Hop, adds a little Rock, serves a touch of Soul, and throws in a splash of Latin flavor to counterpoint his Spanish fluency.

Eddie is prolific, writing some 200 songs for himself and other artists in various genres. A driven, talented perfectionist, he was twice invited to perform at Carnegie Hall and continues to display touching originality.

Lyrics

Let My People Go

Written By: Eddie Andrews (c 2004)

INTRO
This song goes out to all the downtrodden, disadvantaged, unrepresented, those good people who've never able to make through a corrupt system through no fault of their own, encountering injustice and unrighteous deeds. Pharaoh, it's time to let My people go!

VERSE 1
Pharaoh, you've had your way with My people, and I'm tired, I'm so tired of how they're treated
I've got a message for ya, it's time to listen, you better take heed
For I am the Lord, I try the reigns, I put up and I take down
It's time to make this change, treat folks better, stop putting folks down

I made man and woman in My image, to stand tall, be free, bow only to Me,
But you sought oppression, causing My people to endure conflict and brutality,
Don't offend the least of these, I'm displeased, for they're all Mine, from the little babe to the wise old sage
Don't tell Me you can't open your eyes and change today!

CHORUS
Let My people go, set them free
Let My people go, set them free
Let My people go, set them free
Let My people go, set them free

VERSE 2
Now to the downtrodden and to the rest, I say, a little help is on your way
When things don't seem to go the way they should, crooks get ahead and you're still the same ol' same
You've got to encourage yourself, and tell yourself I'm strong and I'm not weak
Though your main reward comes in heaven, it's time to stand up now and loudly speak

Whenever you see injustice around the world, holla back, sound the alarm, say it loud
Occupy your corner, tell Pharaoh let My people go, and don't back down
Make sure your brother your sister have food to eat, a place to sleep, a chance for peace
Next time you see Pharaoh, look him in the eye and tell him

CHORUS

BRIDGE 1
People are hurting all over the world
People are dying and crying
People are in pain, oh what a shame
So go tell him what I said in My name

CHORUS

BRIDGE 2
My people are not to be misused and abused, wrong and scorned
They are to be lifted up to an appropriate playing field, given understanding, and properly informed
So if you're in a position to give water to the thirsty, food to the hungry, provide knowledge and liberty, do so
And tell Pharaoh what I said in My name

CHORUS

Fly Away

Written By: Eddie Andrews (c 2004)

VERSE
Some glad morning when this life is over
I'll fly away
To a land on God's celestial shore
I'll fly away
Just a few more weary days and then
I'll fly away
To a land where joys will never end

PRE-CHORUS
One of these days when life is all over
One of these days when life is all over
One of these days when life is all over
One of these days when life is all over

CHORUS
When it's all over, I'll fly away
To see my Savior's face - brighter day
Aay-oh, aay-oh

BRIDGE
Soon we'll be going home
And it won't be long
We can see my Savior's face
Get ready for a brand new day

CHORUS

BRIDGE INTERLUDE
One of these mornings, it won't be long
If you look for me, I'll be gone
I'm going to heaven to sing and shout
No one there to turn me out, and

Running

Written By: Eddie Andrews (c 2003, 2004)

VERSE 1
When I look in the mirror, what do I see?
My entire destiny staring back at me.
I aint' got no time to worry about problems in my life,
I've got to keep my head up high, looking towards the prize

Because I know if I believe I can achieve
Set my goals, and work, by faith it will be

PRE-CHORUS
For the race is not given to the fast or strong
But to the one who keeps going on and on and on

No matter what you're going through
You gotta keep your head up high
And keep right on

CHORUS
Running
Running for my goal
Oh oh
Reaching
With all my soul
Oh oh
Striving
For what I know is mine
Oh oh
Beliving
No matter how long the time

VERSE 2
You always got these folks with crab mentality
But i can't surround myself with negativity
I've got to stay focused on this calling of mine
I've got so much to do and yet so little time

I'm on a mission and I can't be stopped
Not until I reached the very top

He Did It Just For Me

Written By: Eddie Andrews

VERSE 1
Look all around there is no greater love
He shed His grace on us from up above
Why He did is a mystery
He gave His best, all for you and me

PRE-CHORUS
And one thing is for very sure
He cares for me with love so pure
He took the pain, endured the cross
So you and I would not be lost -- He did it!

CHORUS
He did it just for me
Paid the price on Calvary

He did it just for me
Took my place so I can be free

He did it just for me
He loosed the chains with victory

He did it just for me
To give me life eternally

He did it just for me
He did it ...
Just for me
Just for me

VERSE 2
I don't know why He loves me
I don't know why He cares
But when I call the Lord
He's always there

PRE-CHORUS

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Why oh why oh why oh why oh why
Would a Man lay down His life
Why oh why oh why oh why oh why
Would a Man pay the price
Why oh why oh why oh why oh why
Would a Man make a way
Why oh why oh why oh why oh why
Would a Man take sins away

CHORUS - Extended
He did 'cause He loves
He did it 'cause He cares
He's always there

Check Yourself - Don't Lose Your Soul

Written By: Eddie Andrews

Check Yourself – Don’t Lose Your Soul
Lyrics and music copyright © 2005, 2006 Edgar “Eddie” Andrews
Based largely on Luke 16:19-31

VERSE 1
Gather 'round me children, listen now, it's time to tell a story
Not just another made up fable, but truth about priorities

There was a man who had everything but failed to thank who blessed him
He had food on the table, cheese in the bank, but there was no time to help his friends

Oh, oh, oh, oh, why don't you check yourself,
Oh, oo-Oh, why don’t you check yourself
La, la, la la, don't lose your soul
Ooo, whatever you do don’t lose your soul

Oh he was rich and life was a cinch, but he didn't care who he hurt with his actions
He thought life was a game, and that when the bell rang the one with the most points wins

It came to a screeching halt one day when he laid down for the last time
He died and then flaming FIRE! Voices CRYING! Stench throughout eternity!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh- ahhhhhhhhhhhh - ahhh

Oh, oh, oh, oh, why don't you check yourself,
Oh, oo-Oh, why don’t you check yourself
La, la, la la, don't lose your soul
Ooo, whatever you do don’t lose your soul

CHORUS
Don't lose your soul, your one and only
Make heaven your home and your destiny
Hear the words of this song and just take heed
Whatever you do, whatever you do

VERSE 2
From hell he looked up to paradise, saw Abraham & Lazarus,
He said “How in the world did I get into this mess”
Abraham said "Son, remember when.." -- I know I can’t defend what I did back then –
“Well now you have to suffer cause you died in your sins”

Well can you send me water... NO! But I think I'm getting hotter ... SO
Well at least send somebody back to house of my father (oh NO…)
And warn them, inform them don’t come to this torment,
Tell ‘em listen to the preacher, cause there’s too FI-RE!!!!!!

Oh, oh, oh, oh, why don't you check yourself,
Oh, oo-Oh, why don’t you check yourself
La, la, la la, don't lose your soul
Ooo, whatever you do don’t lose your soul

So while we’re running around not paying attention, better check who's got your mind-in-ind
We’re running so fast, as if time is going to last, stop and think sometimes

What have you really gained, despite the pain, if you mess around and lose your soul
All the money, all the cars, all the women or men, won't mean a thing down below

Oh, oh, oh, oh, why don't you check yourself,
Oh, oo-Oh, why don’t you check yourself
La, la, la la, don't lose your soul
Ooo, whatever you do don’t lose your soul
