Impossible de me rappeler quel chemin j’ai emprunté pour arriver jusqu’à d’Eddie Whelan aka Eddie the Wheel, toujours est-il qu’après avoir écouté son EP He’s a Scream j’ai bien volontiers déboursé 5 malheureux dollars pour me l’approprier. Il y a une drôle de vibe tout au long de ce disque, c’est une sorte de folk ambient avec un jenesaisquoi de new wave bizarroïde, je n’arrive pas trop à mettre le doigt dessus et ça me plaît bien. - Le Choix
My friend Thomas hipped me to this track earlier today. It’s been on repeat since. The vibe is early 80s melodic post-punk crossed with a nice dose of ambient new wave and ennui. Eddie The Wheel is the project of Eddie Whelan, based in Athens, GA. “Nearsayerfive” is culled from his new EP He’s A Scream.

Bio
Freshest on the Athens musical map is the new, curiously-named local combo Eddie the Wheel. Made up of a morphing core of friends springing off from the initial groundwork of singer/guitarist E.Van Whelan, the group specializes in infectious, secretive bedroom-pop songs that take minimalist construction somewhere suitable for both loners and lovers.
Unassuming vocals warm up the cool, understated sonic palette not unlike a friendlier Southern response to the darker moments mined by Arab Strap or The xx.
