"Crying Birds - Eden - 4 1/2 Stars"

One of the originals Eden performed on the show, 'Blue Home', is featured in a much fuller sounding musical guise on her debut EP and, as lovely as it is, it's testament to her talent that it's not the strongest of her five exceptional songs. That distinction goes to 'Crying Birds', a strikingly layered narrative about thoughts that are not our friends, and the searching pop gem 'Angels', which perfectly showcases why Eden is such a compelling new voice on New Zealand's musical landscape. - Mike Alexander (Sunday News)

"Review - Sofar Sounds"

"First up was the softly spoken young Eden. She’s one of those people who really suits her name; Eden - sweet, delicate and very quietly spoken. Her performance however was something else. She had one of those incredible voices that could be super powerful, and yet very light and beautifully fragile at the same time. As I was mulling over how she reminded me of a young Fiona Apple, a guy bounded up next to me, looked out at Eden and grinned. X Factor judge, singer-songwriter and Eden’s musical mentor Daniel Bedingfield had all the pride of a father watching his daughter’s first school play. And rightly so, perhaps an early exit off X Factor will be a blessing for Eden. - Kyle Bell

"Song of the Kauri - Eden Roberts, Musician"

Eden is a guitarist and and songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand. Eden plays a Laurie Williams Kiwi guitar made of native New Zealand timber.

She has a phenomenal talent for someone so young and has garnered great praise for her percussive and rhythmic style of playing. Eden won the 2011 Smokefree Women’s musician award and the judges were more than impressed with here unique musical expression combined with a very refined technique. Eden was one of the standout performers at the national Songwriting competition, Play It Strange 2010

"United Nations of Collaboration"

...Bassy Bob Brokman;s highlight of the session was sixteen year-old songwriter Eden Roberts. "Awesome singing and writing... she's a natural." said the New York Producer... - Red Bull

"Eden - Music Nation"

Eden Robert’s songs are driven by uplifting melodies, delivered with passion and conviction by a glittery voice, at times possessing a raw bluesy feel. The acoustic guitar is a constant in Eden’s songs – maintaining her intimate folk singer/songwriter style when other elements such as electronic drums, synth, and electric guitar are added.

“A writer working in a new space” – Jordan Luck.

One listen to Eden’s debut EP Crying Birds tells us we are listening to an old soul.
Eden is the winner of the National Womans Musicianship Award SmokefreeRockquest 2011, Play It Strange Peace Song Award 2011, Stand Up Stand Out Instrumental Winner 2012.

The songs on Edens latest EP ‘Crying Birds‘ were written between January & June 2013. - Jacko Andrews

Bio

Eden is a nineteen year-old songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand, described by Stan Walker and Danjel Bedingfield as a "true artist". She first began her songwriting career at age fifteen, from being sponsored by Laurie Williams Guitars, then gained success throughout high school in receiving the SmokefreeRockquest National Women's Musicianship Award (2011) and the Play it Strange Peace Song Award (2011). Eden's influences include Florence and the Machine, Stevie Nicks, Eva Cassidy, and Kate Bush. The originality of her craft is most defined by the sweet and urgent nature of her vocals which deliver strong melodies, incorporating elements of performance poetry, blues, and pop. The acoustic guitar is a constant in the instrumentation of her songs - keeping intimate folk singer/songwriter roots when other elements such as electronic drums, synth, and electric guitar are added.  "A writer working in a new space" - Jordan Luck, Exponents.

Eden has performed at SXSW Music Festival 2014, Austin, Texas, and at venues such as Room 5 Lounge in Los Angeles where her management team is based. Her debut EP 'Crying Birds', was released February 1st 2014, Mike Alexander from the Sunday News giving it four and a-half stars. She performs regularly in the New Zealand music scene - with both her six-piece band and solo with an acoustic guitar. Eden was the support slot for UK songwriter Nik Kershaw's tour of NZ in November 2013, and has recently completed a national tour of New Zealand as the support act for Little Lapin.
