Bio

1990-1995: The origin
Eden Roots members knew each other for a long time. They met in 1990 in Freetown, through Massive Roots Band (the leader, Don Lucas, was a member of the "Twelve tribes of Israel").
They found their passion in music and reggae through different ways. One of them studied music, arts and politics, others gained their musical ideas in the ghetto (with Don Lucas).
In the following years, the political situation and the civil war didn’t allow musical activities in Freetown.

1995-2000: Musical adventure to Mali
One of the musicians, Patrick Kousi, left Sierra Leone to Guinea to find a favourable musical scene. Lloyd Tommy joined him some times later. They later met with the two others musicians, Joseph Coba and Abdul Jimmy.
They got an opportunity with a Malian Reggaeman Askia Modibo who was searching for a group to work his music and tour the sub-region (West Africa).
He engaged the group and they started their concerts in Guinea and Mali and later in Burkina.

2000-2005 : The malian experience
In Mali, their musical style attracted many other artists : Mingilito from Benin, the malian reggaemen Koko Dembélé, Aziz Wonder and Ousmane Mai, Diaz from Niger... Eden Roots participated to arrangements, recordings, and accompanied some of these artists in concerts.

2006-2007 : « Genesis »
Since their departure from Sierra Leone, time has created their own reggae style and each of the musicians worked on compositions.
Some musicians left, others came. The bassist Lloyd Tommy and the pianist Patrick Kousi remained the heart of the group.

Since 2006, they worked on the recording of their first album, which became « Genesis ».
With the unmissable Manjul and his studio Humble Ark, they developed their own sound, a real roots sound, which is a result of a long time experience that they acquired together. This experience was influenced by a wild variety of knowledge, Jungle Reggae & Roots Music, from West Africa and also the Caribbean islands.

Influences : Bob marley, Alpha Blondy, Lucky Dube, Culture and all jamaican reggae singers in the 80th
