He is “The Onliest”- the answer to the mundane and monotonous sound of rap music. With his confidence, eloquent speech, dominate personality, and captivating charm it is only natural that this toothpick chewing, wave having, man who is cooler than the other side of the pillow is taking over.

He was born Edward Griffin in the year 1975. At 7 years old, he created his first rap in his head after hearing “The Message” by Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five. He used his gift of observation and understanding to transfer his surroundings into verses. He was born and raised in Gary, Indiana and quickly learned valuable life saving lessons.
In 1993, his circumstances caused him to make Kalamazoo, Michigan his permanent home. Noticing that life was different there, he was able to focus more on his craft. Those verses about life in Gary transformed Ed Griffin to King Ed G to Ed Genesis. Through various events, it became clear that he could not escape his calling. He started his label R.N.R.O records, formerly known as Ride Out Records, in 1999 with partner Kevin Ford and often performed with his group Thoroughbred Ridahs. Ed Genesis soon became an underground legend. He has opened for Twista, Trina, Memphis Bleek, and Amerie to name a few. He has performed in various places such as South Carolina and Chicago and has a fan base that stretches from Virginia Beach to Texas to Denver. He is in regular rotation at WIDR 89.1. Ed Genesis has nine (underground) albums under his belt. He is currently promoting his new album appropriately titled “The Gift”.

The game is so saturated right now that everyone is drowning. If you brought your head out of the water and took a breath, you would be inhaling Ed Genesis. He transfers the struggle of the surroundings he grew up in into powerful raw music. He is the author of street classics that depict an unbiased portrait of a poverty-stricken community.
His content lacks the commonality of today’s popular rap music.
His talent is undeniable. Ed Genesis is not only a rapper but also a songwriter. He has written several R&B tracks. His creative mind has allowed him to come up with all concepts for his songs as well as treatments for upcoming videos. His voice is captivating.
