Bio

EDIT/SELECT describe themselves as "A young musical gang from the Art Beat of London's lower South East side" - which is about right, an edgy New Wave rock band in the finest art school tradition, with songs bristling with originality, creativity and irrepressible charm.

According to indie tastemaker and XFM DJ John Kennedy ,"They're rather good", and who are we to disagree, especially when EDIT/SELECT make such a habit of producing ingeniously catchy and inspiring tracks with classic-sounding titles like "Our Love Is Tropical", "Temple" and "This Waiting Game" (all available to hear on their own shiny website: http://www.editselect.co.uk or on their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/editselect)

Their influences include The Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Joy Division, Foals, The Specials and The Maccabees. However judging by their idiosyncratic lyrical perspective, the shifting tempos and structural games within some of their songs, and the crackle of raw excitement discernible at their gigs, it's crystal clear that they have perfected their own definable formula and intend to lead the pack rather than follow.

EDIT/SELECT are a band that take being a damn good live band very seriously, but somehow manage to make it seem pretty effortless and fun and the same time.

They've played at Guilfest 2009 (alongside Motorhead, Happy Mondays, Athlete, You Me At Six), the 30,000 strong Peoples Day Festival in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and at after show parties for Franz Ferdinand, The Maccabees and Bombay Bicycle Club. They've also played support slots to the likes of Art Brut, The Holloways, Towers of London and Toploader on their most recent tours. The band have picked up recommendations from City Showcase, Redstripe Music Awards, The Fly and The Roundhouse Youth Scheme.
This summer alone they have played Strawberry Fields Festival and Brownstock Festival.

They toured the Netherlands three times in one year and also secured the sponsorship of Jameson's and Mistral. Recent performances at IndigO2, Scala and Barfly have further established that this group are all about introducing new music; they are always evolving and expanding their set and actively avoid the clichés that most bands fall victim to.

EDIT/SELECT are a group firmly embedded into the live scene - frontman Matt Stolworthy has even established their own night called ToeJam (held at venues such as the New Cross Inn, Goldsmiths SU, Proud Camden, Amersham Arms and Deptford Arms), helping to promote the newest local talent and allowing the cool kids to coalesce.

The band are currently working on their much-anticipated debut album, which will include explosive live favourites such as "Your Fire", "New Dimensions" and "Our Love Is Tropical".
