"Industry quote"

One of Vancouver's hardest working bands... Edmonton Block Heater, has finally released something to mollify all those impatient people who have been badgering us about when we would get their album in.  Those people won't be disappointed... it's a hook laden pop gem.

"Miscellaneous snippets"

“Vancouver’s excellent Edmonton Block Heater... a refreshing blend of power pop and acoustic rock.”
(Calgary Sun, August 19 2005)

“... buoyant, unabashed power-pop from a Vancouver trio with a large cache of hooks ... a devotion
to the genre, hewing to the best examples: Squeeze, some Replacements, maybe a dash of Nick
Lowe’s sensibility.” (See Magazine, April 14 2005)

“... contagiously eclectic... British power pop, twangy roots music, and the more melodic side of West
Coast punk.... the Heater’s real appeal is the way it hurls its mix of closely interlocking instruments... and
ragged-but-right high harmonies at the listener.... does a lot of things well.” (Georgia Straight, July 28 2005)

“Their latest disc, Get It All Out, showcases the versatility – light, shimmering pop,... rock,... folk, ... and
gentle hints of modern country.... musical sensibilities seems to flow naturally from the boys of EBH.”
(Red Deer Express, April 28 2005) - Various (as listed)

"Radio quote"

“The thing that makes it hard for me to add this band to my station's ‘modern rock’ playlist is the very thing I like about them; they don't limit themselves by trying to fit a format. They've got all the bases covered - from rootsy to funky, rocking to haunting - all tied together with some pop hooks that will stay with you for days.” - CFOX FM's Trace Ventura

Bio:
Founded in Vancouver, Canada in 2003, EBH is a three-piece band that blurs the lines between pop, rock, folk, and country, creating a sound that’s fresh, yet as comfortable as an old friend.

Singer and guitarist Ross Smith, bassist Brendan Mooney and drummer Paul Tansey know where the music they love came from, and want to do that history proud, yet still make it something fresh, new and entirely their own. A little bit of classic country here, some Australian pop there, add some British New Wave and a touch of Motown for flavour. EBH is a tasty sonic stew, and feels good in the belly.

The band has completed successful tour after successful tour, and countless local shows in rooms ranging from the famous Railway Club to coffee houses, gaining ground each time out.

Their live show bristles with energy, and their sense of humour and love of what they do moves their audiences. This isn’t soulless rock and roll posing, this is a dedication to songs, storytelling and melody.
