He accepted his call to preach at the age of 14, which is also around the same time he started writing music. Edward has been preaching, rapping, and singing ever since. He’s moved around for a good portion of his life with stops in Tennessee, Ohio, and Oklahoma. He moved to Jackson, MS in the summer of ‘97 for his junior year in high school and immediately looked to start a music ministry. His musical style is similar to Drake, because he may rap & then start singing. He also produces some of his own music. Ed Welch started Warfare Productions in May of 2003 encouraging young people to glorify God with their musical gifts and has aimed at uniting those who are musically gifted ever since. Ed Welch saw a need to put out music as a ministry in addition to selling music so he started a non-profit called Warfare Production Ministries in 2009. Ed sponsored an event called “The Remix” that brought numerous different Christian rappers together to minister to local youth through drama and song during the summer of 2009. Edward’s heart is slanted towards seeing all people united, focused on God, and utilizing everything to give Him glory. After all, this is what life (aka worship) is all about. Ed Welch’s style of music is a mixture of thought-provoking lyrics mixed with singing over a variety of beats. Right now, Ed Welch ministers mostly in the Jackson and Hattiesburg areas and is open to taking the gospel of Christ anywhere people are willing to listen.
