Biography

For almost 10 years, Forgetting Feet has ventured to master the combination of music and poetry. with an improvisational base, this multifaceted band constantly flirtes with new ways of breaking down the barriers between these two forms.

Egils teksts hover in the balance between recitation and song while the bands over all expression has been compared to that of Velvet Underground, Tom Waits, Allan Ginsberg and The Doors.

The Contract

Written By: Egil Dennerline

The Contract

You’ve been together for so long
To travel on without her would be wrong
There’s no one you know better
But you find when she acts this way
You can not recognize the words she says
Some kind of burning language

You fear another mans words of compliment
You imagine in her garden he has raised a tent and yet
You chose your journey traveler and say to her
Hey hey hey, remember me

You sweeten her with fallen leaves
And try to find a path beneath the trees
She holds your hand and follows
The more you know the more you yearn
To know about the forest and discern
The woodlands are a changing

She pulls you in and draws her hand across your cheek
You imagine it’s a trick to make you fall, to make you weak
You choose your battles fleetingly and disagree
Hey hey hey, remember me

A traveler, you wish you could travel on
You imagine she would wait for you with coffee on the lawn
You chose your journey traveler and say to her
Hey hey hey, remember me

Of all the words

Written By: Egil Dennerline

OF ALL THE WORDS

Everyone got married that day
The bonds of which would not decay
Despite the force of habit underlying the vows foray
The force of habit a parking lot
With a Chevrolet he forgot
Locked in the car the wicker broom he’d used to sweep her away
Share the crosswords again, again

Everybody burned in the sun
In another town, in Michigan
The suit the army gave him was the best he’d ever had
They waved their hats and cheered him on
The family, proud of their son
His dad and uncle, all his brothers, soldiers everyone
Join the army again, again

CHORUS
Of all the words that I can think of
I choose the same words again and again
Of all the words that I can think of
The words I choose are always the same

Bourbon left her husband weak
The pregnancy, her retreat
From one solitude and to the next in motherhood
She gave herself entirely
To her daughter and couldn’t see
She needed her baby and her baby didn’t need her
Always a mother again, again
And she says

CHORUS
Of all the words that I can think of
I choose the same words again and again
Of all the words that I can think of
The words I choose are always the same

Eyes are like the face of a pond
About them, stillness and calm
Watery the spectacle they try to keep
Behind the smile a dollar bill
Behind the old a stubborn will
Behind the boat, behind the oar, the pond is always still

Nothing changes again, again
As we say
Of all the words that I can think of
