Eidir = Between
We are an acoustic duo. Featuring Derek Byrne , singer/songwriter & banjo player. Derek is formerly of Riverdance and County Kildare, Ireland. Joined by Jim Wirt, multi percussionist/singer, and an original Milwaukean. We have tried to move beyond the traditional Jig’s, Reels and drinking songs, to perform ancient Celtic melodies and contemporary originals. We include songs sung in Irish, Scottish, American and have added drum speak.
We enjoy sharing stories and laughs, with each other and the audience, which gives us an intimate appeal. As a duo, our surprisingly full sound and original compositions strike a chord leaving a lasting impression. We truly keep the music EIDIR.
Eidir was formed March 16th 2004. We turned heads at Irish Fest 2004 with our award winning originals (2nd place in the Walton/Irish Fest songwriters national competition 2004). We’ve become regulars in today’s Irish scene (please see our Venues & Show’s list). We are looking forward to show’s in Madison, Green Bay, and Illinois. Our e-mail list, started in Sept. 2004, has grown to over 1000 addresses. Opening for the international band KILA at the Irish Cultural & Heritage Center was a definite highlight. We look forward to seeing you in the coming years.
