"Take the wide range, flexible vocal capabilities of Ella Fitzgerald: Add to that Dinah Washington's vocal style that was at home in all kinds of music, be it R&B, Jazz, Blues or POP Put in some of Rosemary Clooneys's excellent lyric interpretations: Throw in lots of Sarah Vaughn's sassiness: Now place on all of this Dinah Shore's glowing smile and you've just created Miss Eileen Joyce."

ECMA NOMINEE 2007, BLUES RECORDING OF THE YEAR
SINGER /SONGWRITER EILEEN JOYCE (HARVEY).
Born in Dartmouth Nova Scotia she has taken her music around the world via the internet and radio shows in the US , Germany, Britain , Yugoslavia, Belgium, France and the UK .
Eileen was born into musical family and was exposed to many different types of jazz, blues, classical, and Broadway musicals in her childhood . The Rand B of the sixties and seventies certainly have left their stamp in Eileen’s life, also.

Eileen’s song writing has many sides such as the sassy, playful lyrics in Why do you Look So Good , Too Hot to Handle, No More Blue Tears , and then the dynamic storytelling of Bluesman, Sweet Fool and Back to the Blues.
Performing live is Eileen’s passion and when she takes to the stage her audience is immediately captured with her down to earth, yet energetic and sophisticated jazz and blues / Rand B style wow’s them everytime!
Eileen has worked with many of the great local blues men such as the internationally acclaimed Dutch Mason . One of the most memorable was to sing ”Bluesman” at the award ceremony for Dutch Mason ‘s induction into the Order of Canada, at the Lt. Governors House in Halifax. a bittersweet fact is that Dutchie's last recording was the duet he sang with Eileen on the Bluesman cd.

Eileen has grown and gained expertise from the training and coaching with the renowned jazz singer and educator Jeri Brown . Who she has now shared the stage with many times .
Eileen Joyce has experience of many facets of the music industry, particularly in her dedicated promotion of the Atlantic Canadian Blues and other artists. She was founder and president of Blues East from 1995-98 which produced two well loved Blues festivals . Although Blues East is no longer active, Eileen co-founded the East Coast Blues Society in 2002 which shares the vision of the original group with the organizational power of an experienced board.

Eileen is proud to be a member and soloist with the acclaimed group THE NOVA SCOTIA MASS CHOIR in the 90's, touring nationally and internationally . The choir experience is an enriching and rewarding one with the release of two CD’s. “Never Failed Me Yet” won an ECMA for BEST GOSPEL BLUES ARTISTS in 1996. Eileen Joyce featured as a soloist in the two seasons of CBC TV’s HALLELUJAH, with its 26 episodes still playing in syndication on Vision TV. The choir has performed with The Holmes Brothers, Mavis Staples, Lennie Gallant, Martha Reeves and many more.
Eileen has been the producer and artistic director of her own annual show LADIES IN BLUE for the from 1998 to 2011. The Ladies have now released a compilation CD in 2009 at the 10th Anniversary Celebration .
As an Early Childhood Educator, Eileen’s love of children has always contributed to her lifelong passion for developing and teaching music and drama classes for young children. She enjoys creating original compositions, including an interactive musical play for school aged children “Ugga and the Music”. She is also working on her first children’s cd to accompany some of her childrens’ books.

Eileen is ready to put out a new Cd in 2012 with her band and some great guests this will be a tapestry of originals and a few favorite classics . Watch for it !!
