"Einstein's Dream - Sounds at the Speed of Light"

The Guide - The Mountaineer Publishing - Chuck Waters
Cue up the first track on the debut CD by Asheville-based band Einstein’s Dream and you swear you’ve time-traveled back to the 1970s E equals MC art+rock.

And, believe me, that isn’t meant as a slap. There was a very heady period in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s post psychedelic and pre disco-punk when what we call art rock was in vogue. This is when lyrics really meant something and the bands often guitar/bass/drums power trios and almost
exclusively British attempted to push the music envelope the three bar bluezy blues, weepy ballads and sheer excesses of the day. This was heady, introspective stuff and if you took the time to listen most often you’d
need to consult the lyric sheet you’d find new philosophies to ponder.

Song titles border on the incrutible (Delta Lambda, Butterfly Phoenix, Eyelash, The Expendable One)

Einstein’s Dream (well, that really needs no introduction, does it?) seem to have listened to the past well, they cite influences ranging from classical to bluegrass to jazz and, yes, progressive/alternative rock. So, at one moment I might swear I’m listening to vintage Rush, and the next moment you might have a little Slipknot or speed metal factoring in.

You can tell these guys Jared Hooker, guitar and vocals; Billy Seals, drums; and Lee White, bass have spent hours listening, writing and practicing, wrapping their dream up tight until it’s white hot.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the chops I would imagine they are dripping sweat before the end of the first number. My only criticism is that Hooker is a tad shy on the pipes but you need vocal power to make this work, something like a cross between Robert Plant and Jon Anderson. But that’s just me. Definitely a band to keep your ear on.

"Delta Lambda review"

Billaweed.com - Review of Delta Lambda - Rating 7 / 10
Two words. Rock On! These guys have a music style that bounces everywhere in the music genre. Listed as a progressive/alternative/rock band, I, Sir Billaweed, would have to disagree. These guys are much more than that.

Founding members Jared Hooker (guitar and vocals) and Billy Seals (drums), along with Lee White (bass). When I first listened to Delta Lambda I could not believe that all that sound was coming from 3 individuals. I was reading the band bio off their band site, www.einsteinsdream.com,and this is the part that caught my eye, ”In early 2003 Jared Hooker and Billy Seals got together to make a band that was not of the norm of bands that were becoming so popular. They wanted to bring back the role of smart, well thought out arrangements, to make each song a entity within itself.” I would say they did exactly that. Good job guys - Billaweed.com

Bio

Einstein’s Dream is a rock band from Asheville, N.C. They consist of three roles that fuse together talent and make up their clean, clear, sometimes jazzy, and often airy, upbeat sound. With eclectic influences across the board from classical to bluegrass to jazz and rock, founding members Jared Hooker (guitar and vocals) and Billy Seals (drums), along with Lee White (bass), create something modern and timeless.

Forming in late 2003, Einstein’s Dream, started writing and recording their first demo, Relative Demo 1.0, which caught the attention of crowds and college radio stations in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. With each performance, Einstein’s Dream, has grown a stronger fanbase and live show. In early spring 2005, the band recorded Sounds at the Speed of Thought, which reflects the talents of what the band is capable of. The cd was publicly accepted with a sold out release party on June 16, 2005. With deep hooks and smart, progressive arrangements, Einstein’s Dream create music that is in a style of it’s own but blends with every style. Music that is strong and mesmerizing.
