I play piano while singing songs that I wrote. Some folks have said that I sound like a mix of Elton John and Terry Callier.

Biography

I was born on June 4, 1977 in Cleveland, Ohio as Eric José Randall. I am the grandson of Madeline Greene. Her voice was very sweet. She recorded with Earl "Fatha" Hines, Jimmy Mundy, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton and many more. One of her most popular songs recorded was the jazz standard "It Had to Be You". This was recorded on RCA Victor back in 1941.Madeline Greene would soon marry my grandfather Willie Randall. Willie was an alto sax player who also performed with Earl "Fatha" Hines and had his own orchestra. My grandparents originally inspired me to make music. Throughout elementary school I would play the keys on a piano, before, during and after school. On my 13th birthday I received a keyboard. Without my family having much money and in-between working as a roofer with my family and school, lessons had to be self-taught. I have studied some of the finest musicians. This has led me to respect the history that came before me. Now residing in San Francisco I have the unique opportunity to work with bay area bands and write music. My music comes from what I've lived and was created originally for me - from me. I am now ready to share my songs with the world.

On Your Own

Written By: Eric Jose Randall

On your own – Eric Jose Randall

The distance between love and hurt
The feeling of abandonment fills your heart with pain
At times when the sun wants to shine
You wait for the nightfall you wait for the rain

Don’t you know you’re worthy of affection
Someone wants to make you happy

Everybody gets lonely at times
You don’t need to pretend like you are fine
On your own

Wear a smile while knowing this too will pass
Another lonely soul will be put in your path
And because you both know how love should feel
You will never let each other go, you should know

Don’t you know you’re worthy of affection
Someone wants to make you happy

Everybody gets lonely at times
You don’t need to pretend like you are fine
On your own

Perseverance

Perseverance – Eric Jose Randall

The sun rises everyday
Determined to shine
See the beauty in everything
Let there be light

Love and strength
The same power belongs to you and I
Even on cloudy days
Be thankful that you’re still alive

And you know what to do
To keep yourself alive you must always have the drive
Through all you do
Through any interference stand strong maintain perseverance

A mother will hold her child
While looking for something to eat
So sure she can stand strong
She won’t let her child go hungry

Love and strength
The same power belongs to you and I
Even on cloudy days
Be thankful that you’re still alive

And you know what to do
To keep yourself alive you must always have the drive
Through all you do
Through any interference stand strong maintain perseverance

Hold your head up to the sky
There is no shame when you cry
When you feel like you cant go on and on and on
And remember the time when you sang this song

You know what to do
To keep yourself alive you must always have the drive
Through all you do
Through any interference stand strong maintain perseverance

Did You Only Carry Me

Did You Only Carry Me – Eric Jose Randall

How do you tell someone goodbye
What is it that has changed in my life
Haven’t I always stood by your side
This is the reason I ask why

Did you only carry me through the cold
Did you only carry me through the storm
And this isn’t right
I have to say goodbye
To someone I love

Sometimes an angel will come and then fly away
Almost always on the same day
My minds been open my views have changed
Oh Love is such a crazy thing

How does love become blind
How am I gonna get back my sight
Oh you know you were more than just part of this life
This is the reason I ask why

Did you only carry me through the cold
Did you only carry me through the storm
And this isn’t right
I have to say goodbye
To someone I love

(Instrumental break)

Did you only carry me through the cold
Did you only carry me through the storm
And this isn’t right
I have to say goodbye
To someone I love
