"Michel Caspary and Piere Benoît"

EL-BAZE celestial gypsy
“No stone in that women’s heart, but a permanent singing, reflect of her gypsy and generous
soul. Her voice is her instrument, linking up cosmos and earth, graceful flight or enchanting
immersion”Michel Caspary - 24h
“Her name means the falcon, falcon that flew from Andalousia to Algeria to finally arrive in
Switzerland. El-Baze offers us warm show. Around her a bunch of amazing musicians, Antoine
Auberson and his lyrical saxophone, the jazzy and sweet guitar of Claude Buri, the incredible
groove of Zé Luis Nascimento and Jean-Pierre Schaller. And what to tell about the great
accordion player Francis Varis that sweep us along a sunny ride”.
Pierre Benoît- Le Temps Magazine - 24h and Le temps magazin

Bio

EL-BAZE
Born in 66, El-Baze grows up in a Sephardic family close to the Swiss mountains.
Very fast, music and being on stage appears like an evidence for her. Her professional formation is very
rich. She did it in-between Lausanne with the jazz school EJMA, New York with Columbia University and
dance courses at the Alvin Ailey dance company and Jerusalem for oriental and traditional Hebrew
music.
Her collaborations are very deep and various, in Switzerland she worked with Daniel Perrin, Mathias
Demoulin, Gilles Abravanel, Marie Perny, Heidi Kipfer, Christian Gavillet, Patrick Muller pianist of Eric
Truffaz, Lee Maddeford, Pascal Auberson, etc...She works also as an actress with Domenico Carli,
Michel Voïta, Benjamin Knobil, and in cinema with Virgine Otth for the Fabrica. She had also artistic
collaborations with dance companies and several dancer and choreographer as Sinopia and Etienne
Frey.
In France she worked with Francis Varis, Zé Luis Nascimento, Los Rumberos, Narciso Saul from
Argentina. Opening the doors in Israel, she played with the great oud player Taiseer Elias and Zohar
Fresco Noa’s percussion player.
Her references are built on jazz and Sephardic music. The music of the travel and errancy is her
passion. The voice of Fairuz and Noa carries her.
For her musicals inspirations they are too many so let us mention Cheikh Raymond, Titi Robin and
Maurane.
