Bio

Formed as an urban jazz collective in 2009, the five-piece Electric Children embraced a style of music rooted in collaborative improvisation and composition. Comprised of a drummer, a guitarist, and a cellist, bassist, and keyboardist who all sing, they grew through the house party and bar scene throughout the summer of 2011. During their formative months, Electric Children recorded and performed with Minneapolis rap duo Duenday numerous times. Together, they won the University of Minnesota’s Spring Jam battle of the bands and earned an opening spot for OK GO!’s feature performance. In February 2012, the nationally-renown college radio station KUOM (Radio K) hosted Electric Children for a live-broadcast in-studio performance. They have performed in venues from the Amsterdam in St. Paul to the Fine Line and Cabooze in Minneapolis, and they recently finished a monthly residency at the Acadia café. They are now taking to the road in support of their debut EP, Ride the Flow.

In November 2012, Electric Children visited Iowa City, IA; Bloomington, IN; and Chicago, IL. They continue to explore new cities and venues across the Midwest.

Electric Children’s earliest recordings, 2011’s “Get You Loose,” “Release Me,” and “Vibin’ (ft. Duenday)”, are available for streaming and download at www.soundcloud.com/electricchildren-1. The refined and proper debut release Ride the Flow is available for streaming at http://electricchildrenmpls.bandcamp.com.

The band will be touring in the fall of 2012 and spring 2013 in support of Ride the Flow and promise to put on a show unlike anything you have seen.
