The Roses

The Roses

Words and music by Lynn Sampsell

May the beauty of the rose surround you
Dusk and the joy of morning
Rose musk in the evening twilight
Heart leap in the day’s dawning

One day we were talking
We were alone together
As we went out walking
At home in the foreign heather

May the beauty of the rose surround you
Dusk and the joy of morning
Rose musk in the evening twilight
Heart leap in the day’s dawning

The roses in the garden
See the thorns and flowers
When you were there with me
We would talk for hours

Beauty, rose, light, deep
Joy, musk, heart, leap

I saw your soul leap wild
From your driven inner fire
Your fight for peace and justice
Passion and desire
Heard your laughter, never ageing
Held your heart when it was raging

Those we meet
Some leave, some remain
Some leave us forever changed
Like a spirit moving through me

May the beauty of the rose surround you
Dusk and the joy of morning
Rose musk in the evening twilight
Heart leap in the day’s dawning

Beauty, rose, light, deep
Joy, musk, heart, leap!

Tell Me In Blue

Written By: Lynn Sampsell

Do I have a chance?
Tell me, tell me
Do I have a prayer?
How can I reach out to you
Is your heart really there?
Turn back all your sorrow
For my love.

Do I have a chance?
Tell me, tell me
Shall I say a prayer?
How can I reach out to you
To show I really care?
Turn back all your sorrow
For my love.

Darling, can I sing my heart falling to the sea?
Do I have a chance with you
Is this what's meant to be?
And if we let go the past
The pain and heartache 'til
This mystery of love we feel
A universe, a miracle

Cast the river stone
Throw away your fear
Stop searching for the one you love
Because she's standing here
Turn back all your sorrow
I offer you tomorrow
Turn back all your sorrow for our love
