"Review – Electric Religious"

“...the album provides the perfect amount of pull to draw in the listener, while leaving them wanting for more. To me the sound is reminiscent of fellow Canadian rockers – Hot Hot Heat – especially with Baker’s silvery vocals… What a breath of fresh air. I love a band continuing to stick to the simpler times in this technological world. Still relatively new on the Canadian music scene, I suspect we will be hearing a lot more from the Edmonton rockers as Electric Religious grows its congregation.” - Canadian Beats

"Electric Religious"

“Think Mother Mother and The Stars coming together to produce a radio-friendly rock album… these are songs worthy of blasting out of car stereos alongside any other summer soundtracks… Suffice it to say Yeah, Yeah, No is fit to be played on the radio and very loudly. Electric Religious has a more than admirable first LP here. I’m looking forward to their next.” - The Edmonton Muse

Bio

Electric Religious is the project of Métis singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Brandon Baker. Baker’s songwriting explores themes such as leaving and being left, drugs, dreams and desires, and love in all its baffling, complex simplicity. His latest single, "Revolution," recently reached #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown charts. Electric Religious has several singles in rotation on Sirius XM on Canadian Indigenous Peoples Radio.

Brandon was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, before moving to Edmonton to pursue his musical education and career. While in Saskatchewan, he was honoured with a nomination for Aboriginal Artist of the Year at the 2009 Saskatchewan Country Music Awards. He has since been named an “Artist to Watch” by the Edmonton Music Awards (2015), and was the recipient of a 10k20 grant from Rawlco radio. Brandon was a finalist in the 2017 Canadian Songwriting Competition, with two of his songs placing in the Aboriginal category, and was recently honored with the Victor-Osten Performing Arts Award in 2018.

“Electric Religious’ first full-length release follows in the path of Canada’s lush movement of feel good guitar pop. Think Mother Mother and the Stars coming together. [Revolution] hits the ground running, weaving capricious guitar, solid rhythms and anthemic lyrics. There are plenty of twists, turns & genre bending moments… Suffice it to say Yeah, Yeah, No is fit to be played on the radio and very loudly. Electric Religious has a more than admirable first LP here. I’m looking forward to their next.” - Edmonton Muse
