- www.restorm.com

"The splendid Electrik Gossip"

...Switzerland - before I forget it - was the usual merry-go-round of radio shows, deadlines, meetings, social life, and - as always at this time of the year - M4Music, the annual conference/festival at Schiffbau. This time, I only had one job: I was a member of the "Demo Tape Clinic", category "Pop". It's a bit of a shame that practically no one brings along genuine "demo tapes" in the old sense any more. Most participants nowadays enter "finished product" in the competition. However, it is usually possible within ten seconds or so to tell whether at the heart of a perfectly produced piece of pseudo Take That-tat lies a misguided pop soul or an opportunistic business brain. Equally, it is easy to tell that the spirit is right, even if a recording sounds as if it was recorded in the singer's boyfriend's mother's washing machine. Of all the participants at the Demo Tape Clinic I liked best the witty experimentalism of Electrik Gossip - a sort of cross between Sparks, XTC and Mikachu, closely followed by the superior Americana/singer/songwriter fare of Maris...

- 20Minuten | newspaper | switzerland

Bio

Over ten years ago the young Swiss guy Marc founded Electrik Gossip as a solo project. Artists like Moloko, Basement Jaxx, Lamb, Björk, Smoke City and Funkstörung, to list a few, awoke his enthusiasm for electronic music already in his teenage years.

With his relocation to Zurich he found new ways to develop his talents. The omnipresent cultural variety and the vibrant night life, offered him endless sources of inspiration. Tirelessly he evolved his sound and released several albums in five years without having been signed to a label. Thanks to this output the public started to become interested in Electrik Gossip. In the m4music demotape competitions in 2009 he finished within the top three in the category pop. With this success he also got some airtime on several national radio stations. After this first accomplishment Marc decided, it was time to get Electrik Gossip from computer to the live stage.

Around that time his friends from high school Sandro and Michi had moved to Zurich. After a few beers and dozens of jam sessions, the band had formed almost automatically. Coming from a hip hop background, Sandro’s pun and lyrical contributions together with Michi’s guitar skills, felt like the perfect match to bring Electrik Gossip to another level.

The in 2011 released album “At least I tried to be bad” was the result of the new collaboration. With this release, Electrik Gossip grew from a solo project to a band.
