Electrobation was originally formed as a three-piece electro-punk project by Estonian natives Margus Tammela and Leen Toome together with Ian Karell, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in March 2011. Margus and Leen's work together in the Estonian music scene had already earned them significant accolades and Ian had more than ten years of experience as a vocalist before relocating to Tallinn. The trio combined Leen and Ian's distinctly different, yet highly compatible vocal styles with Margus' quirky, electro beats, focusing on producing something unique that would reach beyond the borders of current genre definitions. Mixing punk, electro, and hip-hop as their main influences, Electrobation began formulating their own style on the basis of not having one specific style.
Prolific song writing enabled the band to begin playing live within just a few months and their energetic performances quickly attracted attention from local venues and organizers. Exactly one year after their formation, the trio released their first digital album, Awesome Sauce. During the album presentation, Electrobation invited guest guitarist Daniel Warren, also originally from the U.S., to perform two songs. The experience influenced the band to invite Daniel in to the band full-time and at the same time they recruited Tallinn-born drummer Kirill Nikiforov.
With an expanded line-up, Electrobation was able to take their live shows to another level of dance floor destroying energy earning them recognition from performers and fans in both the punk and hip-hop scenes and consistent invitations to play all around Estonia.
In June 2013, Electrobation released their self-titled EP, featuring four new tracks and the first recordings with the full line-up.
Currently, the band is focusing both on performing and writing new material.
