Electrolyte

BandRockPop

Dark and dire lyrics cloaked by up beat pop riffs.

Biography

From the rocky shores of Cape Breton come three young musicians known only as Electrolyte. After Developing their stage presence performing with the likes of Joel Plaskett and at festivals such as Evolve, Electrolyte have lifted their roots and are now freshly based in Halifax. This energetic trio has found the delicate balance between its hard rocking base (Led Zeppelin / The White Stripes) and their common interest in indie-pop (The Strokes / Modest Mouse / Interpol). Combining catchy pop riffs with melodic singing and emotional screaming, Electrolyte are setting the stage to introduce a twist to the Halifax indie scene. Electrolyte are currently in the studio working on their first album with a scheduled release this summer.

Lyrics

Free as a Jailbird

Written By: Electrolyte

Leave here today your on your way
Leave here today your on your own
Pack your bags and leave this town
Nobody wants you hanging around
Around this old town

Cause when you're free
You're really caged
(Karla Homolka)
But when you're dead
You're really dead
(Karla Homolka)

Hide behind tears to calm all their fears
You show no remorse so stay on your course
You're glad to be out, you give us a shout
You're glad to be out, but you're not really out
You're not out of my mind

Cause when you're free
You're really caged
(Karla Homolka)
But when you're dead
You're really dead
(Karla Homolka)

Cold Winter

Written By: Electrolyte

It's going to be a cold winter
I better put you under my bed to dry
Just like a rose inside a book
You wrote me off
You went and took the quickest road
You could take
You're like a thorn on a rose

My heart was thrown out on the floor
My double identity was thrown out on the floor

I sit alone beside the statue
He comes and talks to me when I'm asleep
He's like talking to
These walls are paper thing
The couple in the next room
Are bound to win
I want to tear out my ears

My heart was thrown out on the floor
My double identity was thrown out on the floor

You're X

Written By: Electrolyte

"Welcome" said the mat between our feet
But I was wiser then that
We stood in his doorway
Greeting a house that only you know
You lean against my arm
As he opens up the room
And I knew exactly what you were thinking
You were thinking

Love, love needs to much help
But hate, hate takes care or itself
Now you might not like to think of it much
But there is always hate in a lovers final touch

He put his arms around you
In a dead attempt as a friend
The expression on his face
As he held your body close
Told me exactly what I needed to know
This place is my fate
This man, this man is me

Love, love needs to much help
But hate, hate takes care or itself
Now you might not like to think of it much
But there is always hate in a lovers final touch

My friend, I think we should stop
Stop where we are
The look in your eyes
As I dropped you at your door
Screamed "Why? I wana know why?"

Love, love needs to much help
But hate, hate takes care or itself
Now you might not like to think of it much
But there is always hate in a lovers final touch

New Age Survival

Written By: Electrolyte

Killer sunshine at my door
Never seen it this bad before
Whole new page in the back of your bible
You were just trying to find a new age survival
Little girl sits on her step
Watching the sun go down she wept
Whole world crumbles at her feet
Sun holds her down and burns her
Burns her with its heat

Nobody knows where the circle begins
God isn't your only friend
Mommy crumbles, daddy falls
Al your hopes are buried behind walls

Why are we always changing
People always rearranging
Take them out and shoot them two by two
In a second it will all be through
The doors of heaven open wide
Theres nothing waiting on the inside
Eternal darkness we all sleep
The sun holds us down and burns us
Burns us with its heat

Nobody knows where the circle begins
God isn't your only friend
Mommy crumbles, daddy falls
Al your hopes are buried behind walls

Say Levy

Written By: Electrolyte

Talking to a preacher to find meaning in this life
But he wont understand how I haven't taken up a wife
Turn yourself to god and you'll find a cure
You'll find all solutions once your spirit is pured

So I read from wordless bibles
I sing all their heavenly songs
But I can tell from the preachers voice
That even his faith is gone

Talking to a doctor to avoid getting sick
They don't want to believe that I don't need a fix
They want me shooting up my arm
They want me drawing up my nose
They want me tossed out on the street
With the bums and the hos

But maybe I'll start doing
What they're asking me to do
Cause everything you try
The first time is new

Robot

Written By: Electrolyte

She's looking at me sideways
I didn't know it could breath
Talking to me backwards
How did we ever conceive
To build this life on a wheel
To put our faith in machine
Why can't we leave it alone
Why can't you leave me alone

The robot in my kitchen
She took control of it all
With ownership reversed
I just watched our race fall
How did we ever conceive
To put our faith in machine
Why can't we leave it alone
Why can't you leave me alone

I'm standing up for me now
I'm gona tear the bitch down
A plug is not connected
If it can not reach the ground
It was born from our dreams
We can destroy what it means
I will leave this alone
If you will leave me alone

Time

Written By: Electrolyte

We sit and watch the paint dry
And thats about that
Now one knows why
But time does not fly
I open up my window
And jump, jump, jump
Into the night sky

Don't let me go
Home alone
Time is on our side
If we don't die

I listen to the clock talk
Tick Tock Tick Tock
It's driving me insane
Your fucking mind games
I sit by the phone
Watch the clock tock
Tick Tock Tick Tock

Don't let me go
Home alone
Time is one our side
If we don't die

The end is just a little harder
When shared amongst friends
Cause they all want to pretend
Our love could never end
But I can see the dusk
And it's closer then us
So say goodbye, goodnight

Don't let me go
Home alone
Time is on our side
If we don't die
