"Brownman's powerful electrified trio captures the essence of the later years in Miles Davis' life, his electric period, without imitation. Brownman's ELECTRYC TRIO is uniquely his own, yet echoes with the sounds of 'Bitches Brew' and 'In a Silent Way' right down to Miles' use of electronics while still managing to stay grounded in the sounds of today. Clearly paying apt tribute to Brownman's NYC mentor Randy Brecker, they are a truly impressive and energized modern jazz outfit."

“It’s incredible the energy output these three men can generate... with only three of them on stage my ears would swear they were hearing a whole electrified orchestra”.

Recently nominated in an unprecedented FIVE categories at the Canadian National Jazz Awards, Nick "Brownman" Ali is called "Canada's preeminent jazz trumpet player" by New York City's Village Voice. This acclaimed NYC-trained Trinidadian-born trumpet icon is widely considered a vanguard for the evolution of Canadian jazz.

Tirelessly leading no less than SIX highly respected ensembles, he is best known for his work as the leader of Canada's premiere latin-jazz ensemble CRUZAO and his electrified Miles Davis' influenced ELECTRYC TRIO. Since returning to Canada from NYC and years of private study with Grammy-winning trumpet legend Randy Brecker, he has been on the cutting edge of modern music in Canada for the last decade, winning multiple awards nationally and achieving international recognition while touring the globe.

He is also one of the most called upon studio session trumpet players residing in Canada, his recording credits sitting at just past 200 as a featured soloist. CBC Radio Canada recently called him "the most recorded improvising trumpet player in Canadian history".
