Biography

Elektrum is a duo featuring Christian Bernardi and Mikhael East. Their collaboration began in 2012 when they realized that they had some artistic qualities in common.

Their mini EP is a darker electro offering reminiscent of early Human League, early Depeche Mode, early New Order and even early Pet Shop Boys. It has EDM qualities but definitely stands alone in the electro-feel department.

Christian is the producer and multi-instrumentalist whilst Mikhael is the vocalist and also writes the lyrics.

Christian's extensive background as an improvisational electro-fusionist producer helped give Elektrum its smooth and unique sonic quality. Mikhael has a vocal aesthetic not out of line with those prominent acts from the ‘80’s. He also provided one of his paintings for the cover art.

The subject matter of the three songs spans an interesting spectrum which indicates a depth to the duo that may surprise: the anguish of long distance relationships, the laboratory as a metaphor for life, and a Kemetic hymn form the subject matter for EP ONE.

EP ONE is brought to you by Spacetone and can be bought on iTunes and enjoyed on SoundCloud.

Science Lab

Written By: Words: East / Music: Bernardi

Fetch me my smock
Hand me my goggles
Time to experiment
In the science lab
Ignore the clock
Let the mind boggle
Your soul's ensnared
In the science lab

Can we piece it all together?
Do we have the depth of perception?
Will we weigh heavy against the feather?
And succumb to great deception?

Fetch my jock
Hand me some sex juice
Time to get to business
In the science lab
Undo that lock
And to hell with that excuse
We've got to sort out our isness
In this science lab

Can we piece it all together?
Do we have the depth of perception?
Will we weigh heavy against the feather?
And succumb to great deception?

I'm searching for the sacred
But sometimes it's dangerous
The sacred can be dangerous
The sacred can be dangerous
The sacred can be dangerous

Can we piece it all together?
Do we have the depth of perception?
Will we weigh heavy against the feather?
And succumb to great deception?
