Traversing through smooth grooves and funky rhythms Element 37 moves effortlessly through myriad of musical genres for an approachable style that is distinctly their own. Their unique groove-rock technique appeals to a variety of audiences and is alluring for any age group. Drawing from world music and modern jazz, Element 37 flows through samplings of rancorous funk and jazz-rock.
Although Element 37s creativity begins with simply their name, it certainly doesnt end there. The band members' mastery of their instruments allows them to go in several directions with their music and the groove rock trios directional jamming features enticing electric and acoustic aspects. The elements that make up the distinctive sound include funk, rock, rhythm and blues, electronica and progressive jazz that will bring audiences to their feet in all national markets.
Hailing from Boulder, Colorado, guitarist and lead vocalist Derek VanScoten, bassist and vocalist Jim Ruberto, and drummer and vocalist Will Gaw have been making music together for over two years. Members of Element 37 have shared the stage with Yonder Mountain String Band, Leftover Salmon, Vinyl Maktub, world renowned pianist and composer Bill Douglas, as well as members of Runaway Truck Ramp and Zilla. Although VanScoten and Gaw grew up together in Utica, NY and have a history that can be seen and heard through diverse sound. Along with Element 37, VanScoten is also current member of the act Cabaret Diosa and The Motet.
Their creative ways of thinking can be seen in other places besides their music. The numbers 3 and 7 are fundamental notes in the music scale and are also seen as building blocks of musical harmony which is a clear component of their sound. Cosmic coincidences and signs aside, Element 37s funk folk and trance jazz gives off such an easy going sound, that everyone will be unable to resist.
