Bio

Elemental was founded in Winter 2001 by Joe Iafrate as a personal musical project/band to incorporate many styles of music. Elemental has recorded many songs yet to be released, but you can hear some completed songs and demos at myspace.com/elemental77. The band has been in the studio to record a few songs as well as recorded dozens of yet to be released original songs by Joe at
his home from 2000 to 2010. Elemental finally started to play live shows in the summer of 2006 by opening for the Paganstock Festival in June of that year in Bangor, Michigan and played The New Way Bar and Club Bart in Ferndale, and 4 times at The I-Rock Nightclub in Detroit, Michigan. 2006 was a break-thru year in the life of Elemental as a live performing band and proved it was not just a studio recording project. Other band members such as Greg Cowan(drums), Norman Rosenbaum(bass), and Jordan Barnes(drums/bass/keys) played solid performances in the 2006 shows and won fans and other musicians alike over. The final show for Elemental in 2006 was in December at The Bullfrog Bar in Redford, Michigan featuring a rare solo performance by Joe representing the band for a fundraiser.
2007 would be a year that saw only writing and home recordings and no live performances due to personal struggles. However many great songs were written or were put into the process of writing this year!
2008 was a year that had a brief resurrection from January until June with more line-up changes that included the addition of Jude Clossen on drums and Jason Anderson(no relation to Eric Anderson the bands' other guitarist) on keyboards and 2nd guitar for recording more demos and playing just 2 shows in February and March 2008. Creative differences put Elemental on the shelf until playing their final show of 2008 in June of that year once again to a small but active crowd at the now defunct Club Bart in Ferndale, Michigan of which you can see live performances of this show on Youtube.com under the name Joe and Greg+Norman with Greg Cowan rejoining briefly. Nothing else came from Elemental the rest of 2008 with only a few days of writing.
2009 and 2010 would only see very brief spurts of writing and it would seem that Elemental was all but a dream that never came to fruition until...
Elemental was resurrected in late Spring/May of 2011 for the Memorial Day weekend fundraiser benefit concert for local artists at The Phoenix Cafe in Hazel Park, Michigan. This performance was loose and un-rehearsed but featured 2 new members to the ever-expanding history of the band. Those 2 new members are Stephe Brown on bass and Shane Oesterling on drums as well as Eric Anderson returning as 2nd lead/rhythym guitarist. Elemental started to have more formal rehearsals in the summer of 2011 and would play better shows at The Phoenix Cafe in June and September as 2-piece or 4-piece full band. At this current time of writing (November 2011), Elemental are booking new shows for the rest of 2011 and beyond as well as rehearsing old and potentially new music.
Elemental as of early 2012 will for now on be known as Elemental 77 because of copy-write reasons and for the sake of the name game to remain consistent with the myspace.com/elemental77 page.
