Despite—or perhaps at times due to—geographic closeness to the US, Mexican hip-hop has been either largely ignored or wrongly associated with Mexican-American or Chicano artists. ELEMSIBURRON, as one of the most important Mexican rappers, is an artist who truly represents the rich and exploding hip-hop scene in Mexico.

Nationally recognized as a pioneer of Mexican rap, and specifically conscious rap, this Mexico City born and based artist began his career in 1998. Since then, he has founded and integrated different groups including, Kanasta Básica (1998), Aztec Soul (2000) and Magisterio (2001). The latter is now widely recognized as of one of the most representative underground rap groups in the history of Mexican hip-hop.

In 2004, ELEMSIBURRON began his solo career, working primarily as a featured artist in various works put forth by other prominent Mexican rappers. Such partial retirement allowed him to focus on his first solo album entitled, BURRON Y CUENTA NUEVA, released in 2009. The effort and patience dedicated to this album paid off, as the track “Refundación” was named “The best English/Spanish Rap song for 2009” on the annual Top 20 List compiled by the country’s most important hip-hop radio show VENDETTA 105.7 FM, Mexico City. Also making the list was “La sinfonía perfecta”, from the same album, which ranked 9th.

The album received much praise from other specialized as well, referring to it as, “One of the best releases of the year!” (Scratchamamma, 90.9 FM, Mexico City); “A work that has exceeded all expectations, with incredible lyrics and excellent collaborations. It’s really good!” (doblehmex.blogspot); “A very interesting album with very dynamic tracks that address different topics; A very fluid CD with interesting collaborative work” (serhiphop.blogspot); “A very anticipated work, with nice beats and nice feats. A really good album in general terms” (adiccionrap.blogspot).
With more than twelve years of experience, this artist has performed at most of the major hip-hop and music festivals of Mexico, including the Primer Festival Nacional de hip-hop, Viva el Mexside (1999); and on two different years (2003 & 2010) at the most important music festival of Latin America, the Festival Iberoamericano de Cultura Musical VIVE LATINO.

Throughout his extensive career, ELEMSIBURRON has appeared on several Radio & TV shows such as Ruta 22 (TV Channel 22); Águila o sol (TV Channel 11); Indio TV Videocast; Vendetta (Reactor 105.7 FM); Scratchamamma (Ibero, 90.9); Sonidos Urbanos (Interferencia 710 AM), among others.

With all his previous experience ELEMSIBURRON is now ready to share his talent with the world, trough the universal language of hip-hop.
