Not to be confused with the latest joint by Thai Elephant Orchestra (yes, exactly what the name suggests), Elephonic are four humans from LA who provide some quirky, orchestral chillout music of their own. - http://www.3hive.com/archives/2005/03/24/elephonic.html

Portishead meets the Weekend Players with Elephonic, a four-piece group lead by vocalist Anne Montone, whose sweet voice offers the whimsy of Rachel Foster and the subtle intensity of Björk. An ideal anecdote to the springtime blues, this live performance uplifts your spirits with a modern mix of atmospheric soundscapes cleverly blending soulful downtempo, moody trip-hop, broken beats, and danceable melodies. Together with Eddie Barajas on turntables, Jennifer Cook on keyboards, and Kenny Kupers on drums, Elephonic delivers an intimate show that is at once sexy and innocent, joyful, and sad. Live the contradiction tonight as they perform at the Temple Bar. (AM)

A modern mix of deep lyrics, moody melodies, and haunting instrumentation, Elephonic are a talented collection of four friends led by vocalist Anne Montone, whose angelic voice sends shivers down the spine of anyone with a heart. Often elusive, whether playing soulful downtempo, sexy trip-hop, or experimental broken-beat, their intimate show leaves you pondering the meaning of life, love, and, yes, happiness. Likewise, with their self-released EP, Musicmakers, having recently hit shelves, Elephonic's star fast rises. (AM)

Who produced Elephonic's Musicmakers? The first three correct answers each win a pair of tickets to this event, with the very first correct answer also winning a copy of this EP.

New York trip-hoppers Wax Poetic grace the Temple Bar stage to share a deliciously sublime take on mellow moods, acid beats, and lustful vocals. Follow band leader Ilhan Ersahin on an aural journey through jazz-inspired soundscapes with a bit of hip and a dash of hop added to the mix for slow, steady measure. Local downtempo act Elephonic warm things up with a sexy opening set, and the perpetually tasty DJ Jeremy Sole drops vinyl gems for the early crowd. (AM)
