Bio
Elevetor was founded in 2010 by Jón Pétur Guðmundsson (guitar), Óskar Sveinsson (bass) and "Siggi" (piano/synths) as a little project to pass the time before heading out into the Icelandic nightlife. The inspiration was their collective interest in the string theory put forth by the German scientist Werner Heisenberg. The dreamy jazz/electro sound is spiced with philosophical lyrics referring to a trip through the 11 dimensions described in the M-theory.
After composing most of the songs on guitar, bass and piano using a drum machine, the trio decided to add Grímur Gunnarsson (vocals/guitar), Erna Agnes (vocals), Sindri Snær Harðarson (guitar/synths/sound manipulation) and Sævar Már Óskarsson (drums) to the project to enhance the whole musical experience.
Elevator has played live at several of small events. To name a few, the band headlined one of Nema Forums “Thursday nights without TV”, alongside Pascal Pinon. The band also played acoustic at the Melodica Music Festival at Café Rosenberg.
Currently, Elevator is recording an album consisting of 11 tracks where each track refers to its own dimension from the M-theory.
