Bio

Yvan Talbot was born in 1973 in France in the city of Palaiseau, near Paris.
In 1994, he went in Guinea to make a music workshop with the “Ensemble National de Percussion”. At the end of the workshop he decided to stay there. This experience was probably one of the most important and the most determinant in his life.

In fact after this experience he never stops to travel in Africa in order to discover music and to learn percussions. During thirteen years he met people and has been taught music from African master. Passionate by traditional music and also by African culture, all his travels were a real immersion in the African continent. He learns music but also dialects in order to meet and to understand people and their habits.

Today Yvan Talbot is one of the french specialists of the traditional music from the west coast of Africa. He plays really rare instruments as the “ Bolon”, the ” Tambour baala” from Guinea and the “N’goni Bissa” from Burkina- Faso.

From his desire to promote traditional music was born several groups such as the “ Cabaret Bobo- Dioulasso”, the orchestra “Afro Jazz Balimaya” and many collaborations with some famous musicians such as Bassi Kouyaté, Koungbanan Condé and Ramata “dédé” Kouyaté.

At the same time, he discovered contemporary danse and started his collaboration with some famous choreographers as Irene Tassembedo and Julie Dossavi.
Today he is the musical director of Julie Dossavi’s company and he composes music for each of her show.

In 2007, he decided to create El Fassa club.
